Blitzing him before Nagato could summon something worked so well when Naruto was much faster than he is in Sage Mode. oh wait. lol.
Considered the Kyuubi rage at Naruto's rejected talk no jutsu would be what made him faster.
Granted, there is a much simpler reason why Gedo Maze wouldn't work: Tobi, Kisame, and Zetsu are using it at the time to seal "Bee".

Still wouldn't be as fast as KCM mode.
Happened before Naruto fought Pain.

And yes, a hax tech. Dan also moves damn fast in his spirit form.
Barriers can stop it though, and it doesn't seem to possess the target's mind, just the body.
Well, that could be due to Dan being nice and not taking over. It seems like a very very similar technique to the Ino thing...cept a much longer range for the 'mind" projection and it can be controlled rather than shooting it.
While I couldn't care less for the relationship between Dan and Tsunade I have to admit that it was concluded pretty well. While the technique wan't foreshadowed and unrelatable to anything we've seen before in the series, it bring closure to that drama. It was better executed than Itachi's farewell to Sasuke, which is far more vital to the series than Tsunade's relationship with Dan.

Shorter distance. Weaker Nagato.
And as far as Nagato knew it was still going on. No one reported anything to Pain about it being fake iirc and by the time Tobi realized it wasn't the real Bee, the attack had already started.

Dan did mention a Ghost Transformation technique so it was foreshadowed. We just had no idea what it was. Now we do. And what was wrong with Itachi's farewell?

He had enough energy to revive the village, so a powerful shinra tensei is not out of the question
He had enough chakra to completely drain his body to the point of death and he was already stated to be very low...and was bleeding from overexerting himself.

Naruto seemed to blitz Asura Path just fine in Sage mode: even with Pain's shared vision. Even with the shared vision, Naruto still landed a destructive strike against Preta Path with his sage art taijutsu and I will note that Preta just barely dodged that punch, too.
So, yes, Nagato was in serious trouble against Naruto due to:
1. Not having unlimited chakra.
2. Not having an immortal body.
3. Being almost completely out of chakra.
4. Nagato had no more bodies except his own: no shared vision.
5. Nagato was tied to a "wheel" chair and was cripple.
6. Naruto was in Sage Mode.
I think the best Nagato could have done was forced Naruto to have to dodge a blast but then end up with his brains splattered. More than likely, Konan would have stepped in.

I agree. Naruto seemed to port when he crushed Asura Path. One of the fastest speed feats.

Now Konan might have been able to capture Naruto...but Nagato would not be alive after the encounter. So, hollow victory for her.
Well, when Naruto was charging Nagato, she had already moved to intercept. Granted, Naruto was doing a fake charge and Konan did not have to move as far as Naruto to intercept...but that does speak to Konan's speed against one of the fastest characters in the series (even at that point, Naruto was pretty dang fast while in KCM). I will note that Naruto got the drop on Asura when Pain was clearly ready for some fighting...based on this, I would say Konan has better reflexes than Nagato (Nagato was also speed blitzed by B a few dozen chapters ago when they confronted Itachi and Nagato).
However, I will note that Naruto fell from 20 or so meters onto those stalagmites and his body crushed them with ease and without injury: so I do not think a paper shuriken would do anything to Naruto's body. Also, covering Naruto up with paper is a bad idea: Naruto can just turn it all to stone with his sage meditation. So a smother is a bad idea for Konan. Explosive tags?
I just think Konan is a bad match up for Naruto. I think Konan knew that, too...as Nagato seemed a bit protective of her when she tried to step in.

Shorter distance =/= Naruto attempting a blitz. Red hair > White hair.
Zetsu seemed to have watched the battle.

Naruto had already blitzed once before, and you should remember than when he and Bee fought Nagato he was riddled with PIS. And Edo Tensei infinite chakra>half dead.
So? Doesn't mean he communicated during it. He was probably waiting until Nagato was done to say anything.

In the same chapter he used it. But for the sake of accuracy, let me rephrase myself: It wasn't foreshadowed well.

Nah, it was mentioned before then. What it did was vague(transforms him into a ghost to do what?) but that's about it. It was foreshadowed enough for me.
And you never did answer what was wrong with the Itachi farewell.

Well, that's decent I suppose. But it would've been better if we saw him use it in a flashback a few hundred chapters ago. In a battle before Tsunade fails to heal him.It was too intimate. Feelings are better illustrated when they're held back, like say in a fist bump.
Eh, we've never gotten a good look at his abilities before and they were shown in the war. Besides, including it in the flashback would have made it feel odd(since the flashback isn't about Dan but his death).
I disagree. The Uchiha brothers have been holding back their emotions most of the saga. It's gratifying to see that even someone like Itachi has them. It's less boring than his usual vague poetry.

Write through actions, not words.

The point is that it would've made the transition a lot better.A fist bump would've radiated a lot stronger than: "I love you."

Not really. That flashback happened ages ago and even if Kishi had planned out Dan's powers(unlikely), at the time it wouldn't have mattered since Dan was dead.
A fist bump would've also been incredibly out of character for Itachi.
You can write through both. The words "I love you" combined with him bringing Sasuke face to face with him when he always pushed him away before makes for a pretty nice image.

Things only turn to stone if they're absorbing sage chakra, which I don't think paper does.
Explosive tags?
They are one of her main offenses, using them in sets of 4.
Also she'll use paper to make larger weapons, forming a large paper spear and such.

So then he just needs to use.....a 5th of the chackra it took to perform that to send naruto reeling. Iirc the blowback was onoy from braced opponents
He was already drained lol. Remember, he didn't actually bring anyone back to life. His summon did. Doing the summon was his only bit of chakra.

Blitzed Nagato? When? PIS does not invalidate Naruto being unable to decide on whether or not he should blitz Nagato, so try again.
Half-dead red haired Nagato with Konan to double-team Naruto> Edo Tensei infinite chakra white haired Nagato.
Still could have communicated with him when he was in the tree.
