Why is the sages staff different to how it was?

More importantly, what will become of the suspiciously Juubi!Madara looking brother of the Sage?

I also think its ironic how kishi is highlighting hard work all of a sudden when naruto has profited from having one of the best genetic lineages in the series.
Because of this?;

Naruto: "Even though he was the son of the hermit of the six paths.."
Hagoromo: "No matter how excellent the parents are, the child doesn't necessarily inherit their whole potential. I think you know something about that."

if you think about it naruto was a genius in his own right. he was recomended to become a chunnin a few months after becoming genin. He learned mass shadow clone jutsu, rasengan, and summoning jutsu all jonin level jutsu in really short time frames.

Plus the rate at which he spams shadow clone jutsu is something significant in itself because hes the only one who can do something like that. this is because of his uzumaki lineage

So... this chapter was obviously inspired by Kishi having watched Matrix Reloaded recently.

Or Avatar.

I think this projection of consciousness thing that the Sage is doing is a bit dumb/far-fetched.

So now there is a time jutsu, eh?

considering that they have jutsu that can drop people into other dimensions, other jutsu to manipulate the elements, make clones of themselves, and more, a semi-time jutsu honestly doesn't seem too far fetched to me.

yeah, in a world of giant talking animals and meteor summing, a little spiritual reincarnation doesn't even register.

It's not a time jutsu though. Hagoromo would not be aware of all the changes that have occurred, nor would he be aware of the multiple times that the chakras of his sons have been reincarnated into various individuals.
Hagoromo pretty much exists as chakra that has some degree of sentience/sapience. IMO, it's just like his sons. Except his chakra didn't seem to be reborn.

Is Ashura's chakra construct a Kyuubi form?

chapter kinda sucked, wasn't expecting to see 6 paths and didn't like the execution of his first legitimate intro. /shrug

also Naruto's...as annoying as I remember.

No, what he's doing is projecting his consciousness into the future while meditating in his own time.

naruto speaking set the chapter off pretty badly, but it was saved by the sage

Yep, he talked to Naruto using space-time jutsu before he harakiri'd himself.

Also, I was surprised at how quickly Kishi revealed the face of the ultimate character in Narutoverse.
Would be amazing to play as her in the next Naruto Ultimate Ninja game.

I must have missed something then. What shows that he's doing that? Because he states that he now exists as "pure chakra."

Nobody's going to comment on how someone named Kagura looks like an Inuyasha character? Just me then...disappointing 🙁

Also was this chapter Kishi's way of officially killing the theme of "hard work pays off".

Here's what I think:

Madara is the reincarnation of Hagoromo's brother.
Ashura (Naruto) and Indra (Sasuke) finally come to terms and team up to defeat their evil uncle once and for all.

BTW, this chapter didn't explain how Kaguya died.

I'm thinking she either:
a. killed herself;
b. got murdered by Hagoromo's brother;
c. died of old age.

EDIT:

Ok, so this is confusing..
Methinks Hashirama = Ashura's previous reincarnation before he became Naruto, and Madara = Indra's reincarnation.
If Madara = Indra and Sasuke = Indra, it wouldn't make sense.
So I think Madara = Hagoromo's brother, or Sasuke = Hagoromo's brother, and vice versa.

It's important to note that Hashirama was much stronger than Madara (base form), further evidence that Ashura may have surpassed Indra in power.

edit

Kaguya was probably evil or went corrupt with power. Juubi was the 'good guy' before she ate the fruit.

So, Shinju killed her?

Why didnt kaguya fight the juubi herself if she was so powerful and what happened to the other sage of six paths (his brother)
