"Had a storyline and a variety of characters" being an achievement says a lot about either your standards or the state of anime/manga.

What letter grade would you guys give naruto as a whole?

Id give it a c+ when comparing it to other manga

Probably about the same.

Which is sad now because I remember when it was THE hottest new thing and I would have given it an A+

B.

There are a few things i found annoying or didn't care for (female character portrayals, Naruto's personality when it comes to seeing the good in people, the need to make parallels EVERYWHERE and with EVERYTHING, to name a few), but the only thing i hated about the series was the overuse of flashbacks.

I think you can blame the worse half of the fanbase for that, as well as those who felt the need to appease the shallow bastards.

Damn, the art at Ch.699 is god-awful.

Just finished reading the final chapter.

Odd pairings with Karui/Choji and Ino/Sai.

And what the F is Sasgay doing now that everything is over?

His daughter looks like Karin for some reason.

I was interested to know whatever happened to Kabutops and Orochimaru, but oh well.

This sums it up better. 👆

Glad based separated it out:

Part 1: B

Par 2: C+

i didn't start reading the manga until part 2. My part 1 experience was all anime based.

I'd maybe give Part 2 a D or an E but essentially yeah.

u guys are weird. why would you continue reading something that you hate that much?

Is it some kind of obsessive issue that kept you from dropping a habit you don't even like... or is it that you kept reading only to have to the bonding experience of bitching about the material with other people who also hate it?

I have a friend who hates the f**k out of One Piece and still continues to watch it because he's "too far in to drop it now."

In some way, this is understandable.

I actually did drop Naruto for several months and only started reading again when AuraAngel got on his knees and begged me to.

I dropped Bleach and One Piece at the same time.

yeah, that's weird.

I can only semi-relate to that with one personal experience. I read all the Twilight books even though i thought the 1st book was terribly written. I kept reading 'cause even though the writing was awful, i enjoyed the world the book was set in... i don't understand continuing to do something just because you're in too deep.

for instance, i just recently stopped watching "The Vampire Diaries" because i realized that i hate more about it than i liked. I stopped even though i invested 5+ years into it.

If you hate Naruto and kept reading/watching it, you may have some strong obsessive or masochistic traits.

To give an actual answer to this retarded, kindergarten level post I'll explain my reasoning.

Part I was amazing. I constantly get myself rereading and rewatching. The side characters are great and I have attachments to a lot of them.

Part II was supposed to expand on that while raising the stakes plot wise. It started off okay but I kept waiting to be amazed like I was in part one. It never happened. There were bits and pieces that were pretty damn good that made me keep reading, until it got outnumbered significantly by trash.

Shippuden was decent all the way up to the war and I'll say serviceable up to Madara's fights. But the end of this somewhat historic manga was so bad that it ruined everything about part II. Literally everything. Nothing these past few months was enjoyable. The prior parts part II weren't amazing, but it was worth a read. Now that I'm at the end I'm going to obviously ****ing finish it.
