Danzou's love for Sarutobi couldn't save him. Raikage's love for Kirabi couldn't stop Sasuke. Gaara's love for Naruto couldn't stop Sasuke. Mei's love for Sasuke couldn't stop him. 😛.

True enough. He may be planning to go after Madara once he's done with Konoha, but he doesn't realize that it may be too late and that he's doing exactly what Madara wants him to do.

He's a pathetic strategist, allowing revenge to cloud his judgement. He demonstrated that when he decided to take on 5 Kages. Even Madara was scared to do that, and had to rely on Sasuke.
He's a brilliant tactician though, so he's still a genius 😛.

Even if Kakashi beats Sasuke, he has the title of reverse-protagonist to save him.

Well after Mizukage, Zetsu helped restore him somewhat. And I do think Karin restores chakra.

It's not that that bugs me so much as him being able to use MS so much without having to stop like Itachi did.

Well the databooks show Itachi has low stamina. That could be a reason.

In addition to what Kento said, Itachi also knew the risks of using MS, and was undoubtedly smarter in his usage of MS. So it's possible he was also consciously limiting his usage of it. After all, he's had his eyes last for 7 years, while Sasuke has nearly reached the same state Itachi was in his final battle.
