True enough, though IMO, Asuma would be hard-pressed if he had scores of ninja pressing down on him as he's a close-range fighter. If they attacked him one group at a time in small groups, he could probably go through a lot more..
Sasuke might have been a great character as a fighter if he didn't fight good guys and bad guys at the same time, why can't he fight and win to challenge his growth and character development like any other shounen main character(You don't see Zoro getting rapped and him being saved at the last minute) . Sasuke fights people that are good guys, he loses. Like Killer Bee for instance, he picked a fight and he got his ass raped. Fights like Deidara and Danzou are the right fights for him because they want to kill him and take his sharingan out for evil reasons.
But in part one he even lost to bad people like Gaara and Haku. So it doesn't really matter who Sasuke fights, he's used as a measuring stick for other characters for the main character to fight, he's truly a underdog if thats the case.

He's a better one than Asuma. 313 He's certainly much faster, and he has the Sharingan to boot.
Chidori Nagashi is also a very useful ninjutsu in this type of situation.

True, 1000 seems too much.
Though for all we know, it could have been an actual attack, and Orochimaru and Sasuke treated it like a training exercise.

Visually that does not look like 1,000 to me.
What I note on them is one, no headbands, not even sound (and Sound did have some fairly strong ninja, considering it's fairly small and pretty much just made for Orochimaru's personal use), and two, no differentiating gear or special looks like higher rankers tend to have.
I'm guessing they were cheap merc nin of some kind.
Didn't it take all of the Sound Four going into their CS2 forms to defeat two no-name Chuunins? If the Sound 4 were supposed to be exceptional sound ninjas, apart of the same unit as Kimmimaro, then that doesn't bode well for the rest of the no-name sound ninjas. The Sound 4 were barely high-Genin tiered.

I thought those two no-names were jounin...weren't they? The Sound 4 do kinda suck when compared to the rest of the characters currently but they did take out two people of a decent rank; still not sure if they were chunin or jounin though.
In Kimimaro's defense, he sort of helped Orochimaru kill the Kazekage before the chunin exams.
