I can get the Uzumaki clan being suited to it, what with their special chakra and all. Even Bee and Gaara I can get because they're related to the Kage which might indicate some kind of special chakra. Which leaves us to speculate that all jinchuuriki at least have some sorta of special chakra before the sealing though I dunno.
Not necessarily 'special,' in the sense of a specific rare aspect, just chakra strong enough to handle it.

Kind of similar to the cursed seal. Only one in ten people can survive it, but Anko, Kimimaro, Sasuke, and the sound four seem to have nothing in common but strength.

God damn, the animation ****ing sucks now. What happened to the smoothness we saw in the Sasuke vs. Hachibi fight?Better yet, what happened to the awesome ****ing animation we had in the Kakashi vs. Hidan/Kakuzu fight and Sakura/Chiyo vs. Sasori fight?
i was so stoked that they'd use that for the sasuke vs raikage fight but they didn't...... last instance was the pein/naruto one ....wtf

onoki IS badass.
Onoki for Cube-being level? awesome
Yep, more so than the Raikage.

(Later) Part 2/Shippuden fights generally suffer from this IMO. For me, it started to go downhill after the Sasuke-Deidara fight. Though Deidara suicide-blasting himself has easily been the most epic moment in the Shippuden anime so far.
Then there was the Naruto-Pain fight which was plagued with silly art, and sheer ridiculousness.
First time I've actually seen this.

I agree. For the first time, a fight was better in the manga. 😐
That's just sad.
Not to hard to see that. War increases supply for soldiers, schools have to pop them out as soon as possible to meet demand. Could also argue that that is why characters like Kakashi were made Chunin at such an extremely young age, to the point where I don't think Kishi realized what a 6 year old is like.
Come to think of it, we've never seen one of these really young child ninja in play (as opposed to the normal everyday kid ninja like most of the cast 🙂 ).
My suspicion is that rather than used directly for soldiers, they were used to handle all the other minor tasks and gain experience, to free up older ones to do the real fighting.

Some 4-year olds composed music. It's not absurd to think that a Genius would master several basic jutsus and come up with complex strategies enough to pass the Chunin exam.

Well we've seen Itachi playing and he grew up in a time of war. He wasn't as stern as Kakashi I'd wager.
I would certainly hope that they weren't placed on the front line. Though they were likely used to help in the war effort somehow. Minor missions of course.

Depends on the upbringing and it's not impossible for there to be geniuses among us. That said, there is a large difference between being able to compose music and being able to fight and lead a mission. It's very unlikely that they would put a 6 year old in charge of a campaign. Even less likely is the idea of a 6 year old being able to fight competently.
That said, Kakashi likely did not go through the same Chunnin Exam like deal that his future students did, so they might have just looked at his background, wished him the best of luck, and then sent him off to war.

We do know he wasn't old enough to be in the 3rd Shinobi World War. There may have been smaller wars we don't know of, so it may be he was during a time of high recruitment, but not as much as when Kakashi or the Sannin were.

I'd imagine fire support for a chunin would be a large part of it. And dealing with bandits and similar, guard duty, being extra eyes, etc..
The 6-year-olds we know were all uber enough to have learned a useful jutsu by that age (the Sannin, Kakashi, Yamato- who had a kekkei genkai advantage that probably made things easier). Others seem to have been recruited at 9 more than not (Asuma, Kurenai, Shizune- prodigies all, but not so much so as to deploy *too* young).

But we do know Kumo decided to be douches and fight them and a peace treaty was signed around the time Itachi would have awakened the Sharingan, so we know he saw some combat at least. Smaller wars probably don't call for the mass production of shinobi so they could afford to take a breather.
Interesting question though: Do you think the start of Part 2 hinted towards something similar to this? That is to say, due to the threat of Akatsuki, do you think Tsunade started ranking up Shinobi more quickly?

Kakashi was apparently better than the Sannin lol. Yamato I can see them bumping up quickly, the Sannin were students to the 3 so it's not like that doesn't work in their favor.

I'm wondering if the conflict where Kisame and Ibiki met was such a small war.
Hm, and it seems very likely that the Kyuubi attack played a role. That combined with even a small conflict may be why they took Itachi in at 7.

I think following the Sound/Sand invasion it may have happened. Akatsuki's threat had enough warning that they likely didn't have to rush training much.

On Kakashi, I wonder if the start of the war was going badly, and if perhaps his dad's disgrace played a role too. Someone who's likely to be strong, but has a lot more to prove.

I would say that composing music at the age of 4 is a much bigger feat of intellect than passing the Academy requirements and being promoted to Chunin. The Academy work is mostly academic with demonstrations of basic techniques. Kakashi was said to have a natural genius towards the ninja arts, making the graduation from the Academy quite believable at 5. There was a boy in India that started college level work at 4 or 5 and participated in his first legal surgery at 7 or something. That's at the "peak" end of human ability, which Naruto is supposed to also showcase.
Composing music versus using wilderness tracking skills. I'd say that composing music is much more complex and requires more intelligence.
Manipulating chakra correctly versus keeping a beat and playing an instrument from music you have written...enough to entertain nobles. I'd say that musical portion is far more difficult as it often takes years of practice for even gifted people to accomplish. Kakashi was a genius so at 5, he should have been years ahead of his peers, which he was. That's usually what child-geniuses are supposed to do.

I dunno. We do not have evidence of that and the Academy existed in Kakashi's time because he graduated from the academy. I could just go back and read the section where it talks about the chunin exams for the first time. Maybe...MAYBE...it mentions it being an old tradition or something.
Also, from reading, it seems that there may be those promoted to chunin withOUT having taken the exam. Do we know who those people are (it would be people promoted during the timeskip that were not said to have passed the chunin exam.)
New chapter out!
Whoa,
Spoiler:
Tenten got a kill! And the fan... it's surprising she had the chakra to use it. If she gets to keep it, that'll be a big level up to say the least.Choji's always been able to rely on his teammates for many of the hard calls. He's good at facing an enemy in a fight, but he is the late bloomer of the bunch. I look forward to seeing how badass he is as a butterfly 🙂
Both Ino and Shikamaru get to continue to be cool and use their powers in creative ways.
A bit more of clan politics- those three seem to have a somewhat subordinate relationship with the Sarutobi, long term.
