Not exactly since it's not something Choji's rationally choosing. He *knows* what has to be done and he's not arguing against it. He is just emotionally having trouble bringing himself to do it.

I've seen people get cold feet about airplanes, cold feet about crushing your mentor's head is going to be on an entirely different level.

Well, it's not the same thing.

Asuma is in a form that definitely is not the same as the original.

Like I said, it was okay to hesitate one time, but the additional hesitations were stupid.

Choji's not an emotionless ninjabot after all. This stuff is hard, and struggling over it makes a lot of sense.

The entire chapter was a waste. The first or second page should have been Chouji turning into his butterfly form.

Emotions don't go away just because one wants them to.

Oh yea, on the fan, you can see her spotting it here a few chapters ago.

Slightly unrelated to what I'm talking about...

I would have preferred Choji hesitate once, then get the second pep-talk (cause they already had one pep-talk before they fight), then go butterfly mode.

I guess you forgot about the INTENSE struggle Naruto went through about accepting that Sasuke's a complete and utter douchebag and that maybe it would be a good idea to kill him before he straight up murders another kage. Or tries to kill Sakura again (much as we wish he would).

Also Chouji is now Butterfly Aizen.

After passing out, Naruto comes to a decision rather quickly to just die along side Sasuke. He had considerably more time to emotionally prepare himself than Choji. 😮

And Aizen ripped off Choji first. vin

This. Need to make room for Choji on my favorites list. mmm

Am I the only one who does want to see Asuma kill his own child?

That would be hilarious.

Hm, I think I may be a bad person.

Meh. I've seen worse. And said worse.

Keep in mind, we are talking *maybe* thirty seconds between his first hesitation and him going butterfly. And probably in the realm of five between his first and second.

Agreed.

Interesting. Nice find! I forgot COMPLETELY about that. In fact, I don't even remember seeing the hilt of the fan from that panel. Props goes to Kishimoto for a nicely planned sub-plot.

Which gives us a nice destruction feat for Asuma- his air-blasts can one-shot Kakuzu's monsters.

It was a Wind Attack that took out the Lightning monster, so I'm guessing the whole Elemental Superiority came into play somehow.

I thought about that, but the body of the thing's not lightning based, it's made of Kakuzu's threads, which are pretty tough. A mask's element seems to mainly determine it's release.

Speaking of Itachi, let's consider the Sharingan itself. The idea is that when using the Sharingan, you can instantly memorise pretty much anything, such as jutsus in the middle of a fight. Most likely, you'd only use the Sharingan in battle. It stands to reason that at some point, a veteran Uchiha would have seen a friend or close relative die in combat. That Uchiha would remember how that person died, in perfect detail, for the rest of his or her life. As you age, some memories start to fade. Instead of remembering when let's say, Cousin Ichijou managed to paint the cat pink, you'd recall the moment a kunai split her head in two. At some point in old age, all you would remember is violence and the deaths of your loved ones. Now consider just how many battles Madara had fought in...

Just thought I'd leave this here.

We already knew the Uchiha were insane though.

That does make sense.

Rankings- I'm thinking of bumping the demon brothers a *little*. They have poison, they were pretty fast (They attacked Kakashi, then they got behind Naruto; who was the one on the opposite side of the group from Kakashi, meaning they flanked everyone), and their water hiding and coordination are both pretty good. They are supposed to be chunin, so C- might do.

And... maybe bumping down Zaku and Kin to D+.

C- sounds reasonable. You can't really use Sasuke whooping their ass as a qualifier because it was kind of implied that Sasuke was stronger than your average Genin from the get go.

Yea, even to start he was strong, fast, fireball, etc.. And they didn't take what he dished out too badly either; they took what he gave, ditched the chain and kept coming. Sans Kakashi and they might've won, or at least the fight would've gone on longer.

What do you think of the two weaker members of the sound trio?

I would bump Kin down but I think Zaku is okay where he is. He does have some intelligence hotheadedness aside and could probably fight on a more even ground with the C- crowd than Kin.

So how far are you going to bump up Choji? SS? awesome

He did fake having one arm when he really had two, but on the whole he was pretty straitfoward and easily tricked.

Looking over the C-, I don't think there's a single one I'd give him 50/50 on, and several are much better.

Tenten and Shigure are not that strong. Same with the Mist Brothers if you bump them up. Not *all* of them are that strong.

They aren't very strong, but Shigure's homing needles are a lot more versatile and more likely to get a kill. Tenten's faster, can multi-target a lot better, and is smarter... but come to think of it, bumping her down may be a possibility too.

Consider- Zaku got thrown off by Sakura, if she was more dangerous in melee (I.e. if she was Tenten) he'd have been in big trouble. His defense on the whole is limited mostly to blasting. The Demon Brothers got kicked in the face by Sasuke, had their main weapon disabled, and they were up immediately for another attack without blinking.

Mindset plays a large role, and they seem better than him in every single area except for blastiness.
