The Official Naruto series Thread

Indeed. Naruto really being somewhat weak due to his age and lack of book smarts made him somewhat endearing. He had massive potential, due to his inner nuke, his guts, and his creative brilliance. He could eventually hang with the big guys but it wasn't going to be early on.

This makes him more....unique compared to Luffy and Ichigo. Well, more Luffy than Ichigo.

Increase in power is one thing but when it increases to a point where nobody can stop the character, it becomes boring.

Except we have two, possibly three active characters who are on that level.

And the baddies aren't likely out of powerups either, for that matter. Tobi got samples of 8 and 9 tail chakra (from the tentacle and from Kinkaku) for as-yet-unknown reasons.

Plus when the character in question isn't very likeable that makes matters even worse. I was only referring to Naruto specifically not the series in general, dude's recent spontaneous growth annoys me but as Aura said, it's better now than at the finale.

But it's not really spontaneous. Harnessing the power of the fox was a looooong time plot point, and this one had several bits of recent groundwork laid, from earlier in this arc to right before.

yeah, this has been building for like 80 chapters.

You have the "I'll deal with *your* hatred someday" line, you have the fox decided he hatred Madara enough to help a little, then you have Son Goku, of which the entire point was to show Kurama that another biju trusted Naruto. All culminating in a fist-bump, which dates back to the Killerbee meeting.

So yea, we got all kinds of buildup, like marwash said 80+ chapters.

That came after him being a jerk to the fox and deciding to listen to his parents of whom he only knew for like a few minutes. Well it was still spontaneous and in mid-battle to boot. Still I'm not as mad as I was when Naruto first stepped onto the battlefield.

There was build-up sure but the timing could've been a bit better IMO. Plus Naruto's recent developments ruined what could've been an awesome momment of Kakashi and Gai being blasted.

In hindsight, I was really mad at Naruto for being a jerk to the Fox. Then I remembered...that was the thing that killed his parents. The fact that Naruto merely hit him once is amazing.

Guy would have opened the Gates and presumably grabbed Kakashi and ran.

Uh, "spontaneous" and "over a year and a half buildup" simply don't match.

Also, him beating up Kurama is also arguably part of it- it established himself as someone Kurama had to acknowledge in terms of power, rather than just overwhelm whenever Naruto's guard got low.

And the parents thing? Remember Minato wanted Naruto to have access to Kurama's power and his and Kushina's legacy included the desire that he gain mastery of it and protect the village.

Not all build-up to friendship has to be nice.

That would've been pretty bad writing if it did...

I mean, if you get consistently disappointed that wildly out-of-genre things don't happen, the problem's probably on the side of your expectations.

Kakashi is one of the most liked characters in Naruto (top 1 or 2, overall). It would be bad form for Kishimoto to kill him off.

Unless, of course, he's trying to troll his fans for the lulz.

Well it isn't like Bee's going to be caught soon, so some out of place character death, especially again 5 bijus, would've done nicely.

Just a little ticked that Naruto can actually pull of this "Child of Prophecy" crap almost indefinitely. But still this was kind of expected, I just didn't really enjoy it being right at this very momment.

At least he performed a Bijudama, which he should've been able to do sooner but oh well.

A lot of your ideas seem deconstructionalist for the sake of being deconstructionalist. I.e. wanting something different to happen because it's different, rather than it being a good twist in itself.

You know, I can still see Bee being captured.

They're winning right now, take out several most beasts, it looks like they *won*, but then the villains dash that hope-spot, capture Bee, and things look BadTM leading in to the finale.

Where have you been? Naruto has long since changed the direction of this war, fulfilling the whole Child of the Prophecy thing. Or hell, he might not even be there yet.

To be quite honest, I've never been more proud to be a Naruto(character) fan. 😛

Well compared to the first time this is actually tolerable. That prophecy was stupid and looked more like guessing to me considering two people died, three if Jiraiya counts, after they got this moniker w/o changing the shinobi world for the better.

I guess I'm just not going to like Naruto(character), oh well 🙁. I'll give him additional point for not being preachy this chapter too.

Looks like Naruto got a new chakra cape for some reason, and that the next chapter shows promise of ridiculous overpowering. Yeah, this wasn't my kind of chapter. Too Dragon ball-esque for my taste.

Killing off characters has nothing to do with trolling the fans. Deaths that are executed well are mostly beneficial to the story told, and they can immortalize the character in a sense. Take Jiraiya.

If Kakashi is going to die, it's going to be at the hands of Sasuke.

if Kakashi was gonna die (permanently), it would have been during Pein's attack. There's no good reason for him to die, it would serve no purpose. Jiraiya already died which motivated Naruto and Asuma for Shika.

If anyone is gonna die, it would be Neji for Hinata's advancement or Guy for Lee's.

In other words, no-one was going to die this chapter because there was no dramatic reason to.

it would have been pretty interesting if kishi wrote it so it looked like kakashi and guy died from the biju-dama explosion, but were saved because kakashi teleported both of them away using kamui into the other dimension of an individual's sharingan power. highly unlikely, but the idea intrigued me

Of course it is, finally something happens after this fight has dragged on for no reason and it happens to be Naruto becoming godly. To top it all all Kakashi and Gai haven't had the crap beaten out of them; they don't have to die for that especially with the odds against them.

If Kishi can excecute it right, which he probably will, then I guess it'll make this chapter worth it However I was not digging Naruto's uberness even before the full transformation.

Mostly the same here honestly.

I think the cape and Naruto's new design sucks.

Oh, and Dangai Ichigo would cut Naruto to pieces instantly even now. He is much faster.

I never got why people constantly moan about 'its too DBZ'. I thought people like DBZ.

You guys are just grumpy assholes.

ugggg

only way kishi can revive this manga is if the sharingan/rin'nigan and bijuu in their entirety simply vanish, then the manga will be good again
