USH'S MATRIX GAME FOURTH ASSIGNMENT (PHILOSOPHY PATH)- 'The Journey'

Castor laughed a bit.

"It indeed it is hard to perceive it as a lie without seeing the code"

"if the code limits me from walking through walls it doesn't mean i don't know it's there.."

"Indeed, if it weren't for that fact that we know otherwise, we'd probably think this is real. It is like a painfully realistic video game..."

(Also, Ush, I think I'll stay on the Philosophy Path, rather than transfer. I'm a born fighter, but that would leave the Philosophy Path with very few people...)

"The code does NOT limit you," says Melitus. "Only your perceptions, which are being fooled by it. Even the Agents have to play into some of these perceptual rules. As I say, you know who the exception to this is.

"Please observe the couple down by the side of the park..."

Down below, just about visible, a young man and woman, in warm gear (it is a cold night) are embracing each other.

(awh...it does limit us.....but we're probably not talking about it anyway..)

Rade moves, to see the couple better.
"yes..what about them?"

Castor looks at the couple.

"I see them, whats your point?"

Really? What limits you about computer code? The restrictions it places upon you in the Matrix are all false- but your mind accepts it. You are not Neo. If you understood the nature of the code you could transcend it, and fly like he does...

It is yourself that prevents you from walking through the code-wall, because your mind accepts the reality the Matrix shows you. Your mind is actually incapable of seeing through this, even though intellectually you are aware of the deceptive nature of it. So no matter how much you know it is not really there... a bullet in the head in the Matrix still kills you. If you could genuinely perceive things as false it would not.

"They are in love," says Melitus. "it is very honest and genuine. Barring intervention from outsiders like yourselves or the System, they will marry soon and be very happy together."

"Why are you showing us this?"

"To ask you this. Is that love a lie?"

"I dont know....Love comes from charing experiences and getting to know and care for someone. Truth is not a requisite of love and caring. If such were the case then why would women stay with cheating husbands. They shared experiences together and although they are flasified they are still shared so I think that make it real."

"You do not think, then, that the choices made involved in the events leading to them falling in love make their wwhole relationship false, a sham, not genuine?"

"No not really. Love is a relationship between 2 people, they were true to eachother no matter what was around them, lie or otherwise, and if they had know about the real world they probably would have still been in love so I think that that just defines their environment. But love is not a question of environment, it is a question or relationship. Given the circumstances, false or true, the determining fatcor of their love is their interaction with one another."

"You believe their interactions with each other are false?"

"No, because it is based more on the two people then it is on the system."

yes, ush, that's i waas trying to say the first time, when i didn't think the matrix less of a lie because of not seeing the code...

now..about the couple.

"their minds are inlove, at least" says Rade with a melancolic look on his face. "his mind interracts with hers, but they're not phisically interracting"

"Would you care to explain to me how their love would be in any way the greater if their interaction was physical, Rade?"

"It wouldn't. Physical interaction is just a way of expressing their love for each other. It is their minds that are creating the feeling of love. The Matrix only has control over what we think we are hearing, touching, smelling, tasting, etcetera, but the mind does most of the work. Except for pain, the Machines help the mind interpret pain...unfortunately..."

"Actually, they make no alteration to pain at all... but in any case, would you therefore say that Rade's specification that it was only their minds that were in love is rather irrelevant? Surely it is only ever the mind that is in love anyway..."
