Descartes smiled and moved a pawn forward. He sighed contently. "It's fun to be able to play a nice game of chess without any outrageous bets with Sonia."

Sonia blushed slightly. "Er, heh." she said laughing nervously.

"You want to make a bet?" Maik asked, pouncing happily on the idea. Since she knew she was going to win, making a bet would make it even better.

Elrohir quickly withdrew his hand, worried he'd offended her. "I'm sorry." He said quickly "I should have asked." He jammed his hands into his pockets instead, blushing furiously.

"No, It's okay." Sonia said rather enthusiastically before blushing. "I didn't mind."

Descartes looked at Maik. "What kind of bet do you have in mind?" he asked knowing when he played sonia it was humiliating things.

Cautiously, Elrohir took his hand from his pocket and reached for Sonia's. Somehow winning and argument with Maik seemed easy in comparison.

Maik mulled it over for a moment, sliding another one of her pawns forward. "What sort of bet shall we have, Mr. Hubert?" She said solemnly. " How about whoever loses gets a snowball down their shirt."

Descartes laughs softly. "I can deal with that. Sonia's come up with worse." he moved his pawn again.

Sonia blushed slightly but smiled.

Morgan smiled. that explained why she didnt no where they were. bad sense of direction. It ran in the family. "Oh." she said. "How far?"

Maik moved a third pawn and tried not to look too smug. All too easy...she was allready winning, and Descartes hadn't a clue.

Elrohir waslked slowly through the garden, occaisonally asking Sonia to explain a plant they came across. He wouldn't trade this for anything, and he hoped desperately that things wouldn't change too much once the letter was found.

Sonia explained as much as she knew about the dark exotic plants. She was happy.

Descartes knew what he was doing. He was loosing but he had messed his strategy up the second move so it was okay.

Courtney kept on walking. Morgan followed her in a hurrry, looking around wildly, her mouth open in amazment. it took so little 2 amaze Morgan.

Maik slid her bishop halfway across the board. "Check." she said proudly.

Something cold and wet landed on Elrohir's nose, and he looked up. It had started to snow and it was now covering the brown toussled mess that was his hair.

*turns the music up slightly*

(you uh, need to go back and read what's been happening.)

Sonia looked up and smiled. Laughing softly she caught one on her tongue.

Descartes frowned. "
Guess I'm going to be soaked." he sighed.

Elrohir attempted to do the same, but ended up getting them in his eyes instead. "Did I get one?" he asked, his mouth open hopefully.

Maik laughed. "You want to make it best of three?"

Descartes laughed. "Yeah, sure, that way i get three stuffed down my shirt instead of one."

Sonia shook her head. "I don't see any."

"I knew you'd go for it." Maik said happily, knocking his king over.

Elrohir shook his head to get some of the flakes of and noticed that there was a fairly large amount of snow on the ground now. In a blur of movement he scooped up a ball of snow and threw it at Sonia.

Sonia "Ack"ed as it hit her in between the eyes. "Not fair." she yelled quickly returning fire.

Descartes sighed. "Okay, fine best out of three."

Maik set up her pieces again, this time letting Descartes have white so he could have the first move. She almost wanted to lose on purpose, just to make him feel better. Almost.

Elrohir ducked and quickly scooped up another snowball. He threw it at Sonia and stooped to pick up another. Having grown up with Maik, he had learned to move quickly. Besides, Sonia looked so funny when she got hit anyway.

Courtney and Morgan kept on moving. it was cold outside, and there was not conversation between the two. Morgan was begining 2 wish that nothing bad had happened 2 Courtney's family. Everything would b better then.

(it's SNOWING!!! 😱 sorry. had to say it.)
