Descartes smiled and moved a pawn forward. He sighed contently. "It's fun to be able to play a nice game of chess without any outrageous bets with Sonia."Sonia blushed slightly. "Er, heh." she said laughing nervously.
"You want to make a bet?" Maik asked, pouncing happily on the idea. Since she knew she was going to win, making a bet would make it even better.
Elrohir quickly withdrew his hand, worried he'd offended her. "I'm sorry." He said quickly "I should have asked." He jammed his hands into his pockets instead, blushing furiously.
Cautiously, Elrohir took his hand from his pocket and reached for Sonia's. Somehow winning and argument with Maik seemed easy in comparison.
Maik mulled it over for a moment, sliding another one of her pawns forward. "What sort of bet shall we have, Mr. Hubert?" She said solemnly. " How about whoever loses gets a snowball down their shirt."
Maik moved a third pawn and tried not to look too smug. All too easy...she was allready winning, and Descartes hadn't a clue.
Elrohir waslked slowly through the garden, occaisonally asking Sonia to explain a plant they came across. He wouldn't trade this for anything, and he hoped desperately that things wouldn't change too much once the letter was found.
Maik set up her pieces again, this time letting Descartes have white so he could have the first move. She almost wanted to lose on purpose, just to make him feel better. Almost.
Elrohir ducked and quickly scooped up another snowball. He threw it at Sonia and stooped to pick up another. Having grown up with Maik, he had learned to move quickly. Besides, Sonia looked so funny when she got hit anyway.
