Classic Colossus seems to be the more durable brick. He doesn't need to breath, eat, does not tire, immune to electricity, has a higher tolerance for both heat and cold.
He did better against glads then ben did. He was trading blows for awhile and it was the eventual collapse of the surrounding structures that did him in. Ben just got thrown all over the place.. Teen age Colossus had a fairly good showing against the hulk too.
Their strength levels should be close though...but iv seen more cl 100 ratings for Colossus then i have ben

After seeing what big C did to War Machine I don't see Ben duplicating that feat.
Pwning War Machine isn't the most impressive feat in the world, though. I don't think War Machine, or even Iron Man, is normally as strong as Colossus or Thing. Tony can put his armor into overdrive to match or exceed class 80's, but not sure about War Machine..

There was a fight with a bunch of Nimrods where they ran a calculation, and it was over 500 tons or something like that.
Thing's lifted more than 100 tons too, though.
Going by the handbooks, Colossus and Thing are on the same tier, below 100 tons but better than 70. In practice, few writers actually stick to the tier system in feats, but I think they still use it to reference who beats whom..
Using Hulk, Colossus didn't really do any better than Thing usually does. I think Colossus and Thing would be a pretty close fight regardless of strength, simply because Colossus on average isn't holding his own with Gladiator, he's struggling to hold his own with Juggernaut or Hulk or characters in that range..
Whatever edge Colossus has over Thing isn't enough to put him down without a struggle, which makes this a fight Thing has a chance of winning.. And if you can't crush Thing in one go, he'll fight till he can't fight anymore. It's what he's known for.

Wait, he WEIGHS 700 tons, not lifts them?Wouldn't he be making potholes in the ground with every step and breaking things all the time? He'd be as much of a hazard in a populated area as a help, just by weighing so damned much.
No, he weighs at least 500 LBS. They calculated his strength based on that. Basically, he can lift 1.5 tons for every pound he weighs. At least that is what I gathered from this scan:
