Just goes to show how important it is to have more than one source!

“E. "Big Bang"- a big group of mass starts spinning with no force to make it do that, and it gathered into one big ball of mass. Then somehow exploded. Then made all the stars in the universe. The Planets: Nepute, Pluto, and Uranus spin backwards, yet the law of 'angular mo-mentum' states when any gathering of mass implodes or explodes, all the remains, or planets, will spin in the same direction. BOOM. FALSE.”

😆
I dunno what this is supposed to describe but it sure as Hell isn’t Big Bang.
The law of conservation of angular momentum:

The angular momentum of a rigid object is defined as the product of the moment of inertia and the angular velocity. It is analogous to linear momentum and is subject to the fundamental constraints of the conservation of angular momentum principle if there is no external torque on the object. Angular momentum is a vector quantity. It is derivable from the expression for the angular momentum of a particle

IF THERE IS NO EXTERNAL TORGUE… But guess what, moron. Asteroids and comets have col-lided with the planets since they were formed. So there… nahnah.
Idiot.

Momentum = Mass moving with constant velocity = mass times velocity
Angular momentum = Mass moving in a circle = moment of inertia cross-product angular ve-locity.

Easy to confuse the two, I agree. However, neither momentum nor angular momentum can be conserved in the solar-system, because things collide.

only a few more weeks and I'll be able to understand that. I'm assuming our lessons in cicluar motion will lead to angular motion in my physics class.

Well, it looks like he/she/it decided to stay away...

But when Creationists try to go scientific and FAIL miserably they have it coming.
"Conservation of angular momentum"!! HAHAHAHAH. "In the Solar-system."
Bahahahahhahahah...

THAT's why Creationists hate dinosaurs. The big ones became extinct probably due to an asteroid... And that rock changed Earth angular momentum...
😄

Looks like another one got scared off 😂

next time there should be chaining involved 😱

creationists hate disosaurs? Really i think They are cool.

...

I think you missed the point... entirely.

What... No arguments against evolution for five days...
Hm 🙂

After 112 pages, I think they're all burnt out.

😆
True... If there ever was a compilation of retorts to Creationist-babble this thread is IT!

😂 I think we've managed to cover every attack a Creationist has ever tried to make on the topic of evolution...

say, TO and Silver... you two, or one of the two, had the idea of writing down the answers creationists had to everything on a website and giving the scientific explanation to this.
worked on it already? 😄

I've been busy with schoolwork. Tell you what, the semester will end December 9th and I'll have three weeks of freedom, I'll start compiling our arguments then 😛

compiling?

"Damnit woman, we're losing precious time!"
(Joey, in the One where Rachel goes into labour)

I hate Friends.

And shall I let you know my schedule of exams, papers, and projects for the next three weeks?

but they'll be there for you! when the rain starts to pour!
they'll be there for you, like they've been there for you!
they'll be there for you, eventhough apperentlyyou won't be for them 😛

oh, this is so exciting *claps hands* I feel like a real stalker already 😱

I think it's good that they change the teaching because I know that I did'nt evolve from a rat or monkey they probibley learn more on creation than evolution and I know aclu will throw a fit thats my opinion for now out.

No, you actually don't know that you didn't, you believe that you didn't. There's a difference that most creationists don't pick up on.

Well, I'll put in my two cents.

I'm in AP Biology and I've gone ahead and read what our book says about evolution and life beginning. I looked over the theory our book puts forth and I think I was stunned into scratching my head--the theory of evolution doesn't seem that much harder to believe than that of an intelligent Creator.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am an extremely strong believer in microevolution. Those Christians who don't believe in it are hard-headed and not accepting scientific facts. (However, that whole white-moth-to-black-moth thing was actually staged 🙁.)

I used to believe the fact that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, but then I started reading this magazine called "Creation". It's about, well, creation from a biblical standpoint versus an evolutionary standpoint. By buying into the fact that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, I was buying into the theory of progressive-creationism, which, after learning more, I don't believe in.

Check out this website to learn a bit more: http://www.answersingenesis.org/

I don't see anything wrong with teaching evolution, to be honest. It's important to learn, especially if one is going into a field dealing with science, but that doesn't mean one has to believe it.

Oh sweet Jesus. I emailed those people a loooooong time ago, and they CLEARLY don't know what they're talking about. I posted it in here, so if you feel like a nice search through the thread, you can try to find it. But, in summary, I asked them why there was no explanation of physical proof of Creation in all the many pages of their site. All they responded with was a drawn-out version of something like,

"you're stupid,
evolution is a lie,
the scientific method wasn't invented by Aristotle."

Actually, about half the letter, if memory serves me right, was about the Aristotle thing. I had very BRIEFLY mentioned the scientific theory and something about Aristotle... They proceeded to pick me apart bit by bit for being only marginally incorrect with my statement. They never answered my original question.

But my premise was right--on the entire site, there is not one tiny shred of proof offered for Creation being true. They try to disprove evolution, but they don't do a very good job of it. Every one of their arguments can be shown wrong with a relatively basic knowledge of biology, physics, and evolution. Don't trust anything you find on that site.

Hmmm...well, the magazine is very well-written and interesting. I've never really looked at the website; I just recall reading it from the magazine. That's a shame, though.
