Evolution is a theory. Thus if religions aren't allowed in school, neither should evolution. I don't believe in evolution for one thing, and secondly your believing something that another human like yourself has thought up an idea of our existance and then you believe it...think about it. However, where I live, evolution is taught in school as fact.

Religion isn't allowed in schools not because it's a theory, but because it's LAW. You know, speration of church and state and all that jazz?

Besides, there's actual evidence, that even you yourself can observe, to back up evolution. What do you have for Creationism? A really old book. Whoopee.

What evidence is there to back up evolution? And depending on what you believe, there is some evidence to the Bible...Things that have been found that show that things in the Bible are true...People and places that are mentioned did exist...Jesus Christ did historically exist...whether you believe he was resurrected or not...is different...But the people you can trace back to the beginning. Have you ever seen the Shroud of Terrin...That is very interesting, whether you believe in that or not. Revolutions made from the book of Revelations that have occured and things that seem like they could happen anyday...with the Middle East, etc...But I'm not going to convince you to believe in the Bible...it is a belief...and its one that at times I question if I do believe in it...I mean, who doesn't at one point...but I still think that its something I believe in. Also, I don't believe that we were just created out of nothingness...in a big bang...

"The difference between the evolution theory and theories taught by religion is that there is some evidence to back up evolution, there is not much evidence to back up the garden of eden, with talking snakes, satanic apples and so on."

"Just a very old book"

Just a very old book...that doesn't mean that its fake because its old...The theory of evolution is also very old...

Saying that the entire Bible is true because it mentions several real people and events is ridiculous. That's like writing a story about me meeting a talking lizard wearing a purple top hat, and then saying that talking lizards in purple top-hats exist simply because I exist.

And evolution isn't "old" in the way Creation is old. Creation is two thousand years old, at least. Evolution is several hundred, plus as I said before, it is always being tested and revised. Nope, evolution theory is as new as anything.

I wasn't saying the bible was strictly true because of its mentions of people and places...But here is a good website for things in the bible that talked about scientific things that most people didn't believe back then...that the bible said were true and were true...such as the earth being round...here's the link:

http://www.livingwaters.com/witnessingtool/scientificfactsintheBible.shtml

By the way, not that most of you that don't believe in the Bible care, but Iraq (which was Babylon in the Bible) has been a very key place for events in the Bible. Read this:

- Eden was in Iraq - Genesis 2:10-14
- Adam & Eve were created in Iraq - Genesis 2:7-8
- Satan made his first recorded appearance in Iraq - Genesis 3:1-6
- Nimrod established Babylon & The Tower of Babel was built in Iraq -Genesis 10:8-97; 11:1-4
- The confusion of the languages took place in Iraq - Genesis 11:5-11
- The first world Empire was in Iraq - Daniel 1:1-2;2:36-38
- The greatest revival in history was in a city in Iraq - Jonah 3
- The book of Nahum was a prophecy against a city in Iraq - Nahum
- The book of Revelation has prophecies against Babylon (Iraq's former name). Revelation 17 & 18

Ehh... So what? Obviously the Bible has SOME basis in fact. It's not surprising at all that some of it takes place in Babylon, which was the first place where modern civilization developed.

It's just interesting...for one if you believe in the bible, that Adam and Eve were created there and so was evil...and also the changing of languages,..etc...

HAHAHAHA, the Bible is true because it uses real people and events!?!?

Ok, so Dracula was true because it took place in London, which is a real place? So The Odessey is true, becuase it used real people and real places? So if I write a book using real people and places, but making up the events, it would be true?

That was douche-tastic.

Dude, your not listening to what I said. I said I DON'T JUST believe it because of its historical accuracies of people and places...I think there is more to it than just that...you totally flipped what I said around...read what I said more carefully and then make comments...until then...don't. And saying that Dracula is real because there is a London is more like saying Adam was real because there was a place called Babylon or Iraq...that's not at all what I said. It's more like Jesus really did exist and he was born in Jerusalem...but whether he was the son of God or not is up to you...don't twist my facts buddy and I'm not trying to convince you to what I believe...I'm stating what I believe in...

This might surprise people. I do believe Jesus died for a cause. Abstractly, he died and showed his disciples that even after death, you may live on. What does this mean concretely? Nothing, Jesus is still in the earth as dirt. Exactly my point. He is there in a different chemical form, but not concretely "alive", we can't physically see Jesus or God. He exists in the mind, and alot of the things in the mind need not exist. God exists if you allow it. I allow it for this reason. There is something that cannot be explained no matter how hard you think. The meaning of life. I have my own thoughts on what life means, and it roughly is -->do what is right, do good works, or your life will be horrible, and evil deeds end with tragedy.

I also believe in Evolution. Things do change because the spiecies who can't live through change, die out, and the spiecies that do exist have already adapted to the change, and don't die out. Eventually over millions of years that process molds many species of creatures since the earth goes over trillions of changes over millions of years.

How can Evolution exist with Religion? Religion is Abstract thinking and perception, and subconcious. Evolution is solid, scientific, and it starts with thinking abstractly. Both are highly connected to one another. Without philosophers, and religious people, we would have no place to start in the world of science. I love science, amazed by what we have learned so far. I love religion because so many religions are connected. We may have all come from one location at one point when dense gasses developed and it spattered all over the space a google years ago.

Is it only me who thinks this way? Again, this is a statement of what I believe.

Interesting, but I can't say I am with you on this one. I don't think religion is just something mental. I think that God and Jesus exist(ed) and that Jesus died and was resurrected and born again...and that he was real...I believe some things change, but I don't think that we evolve and become smarter and different looking and all that. Personally, I think that normally you would think one way or the other. Either God created the earth or we came from the big bang theory...I think that kind of contradicts itself personally.

Your mind can avoid contradictions, Maybe there is no contradiction, we just don't have enough information yet.

I do believe everything in the bible existed physically somehow. That is how it got written. There is always something solid in religion.

But think about this really. How do you live on? In thoughts. In the mind.

What I am saying is that for Religion and Evolution to be true, your mind must allow it to happen. So really I mold my mind so there is no contradiction.

Evolution is a scientific religion.
Religion is the scientific threshold.

Grand theory = Everything is connected.

"Either God created the earth or we came from the big bang theory...I think that kind of contradicts itself personally."

Err... how so? 😑

"I believe some things change, but I don't think that we evolve and become smarter and different looking and all that."

Why not? It's a known fact that organisms change over time... It's a common occurance with viruses and monerans, and is very easily observed. That's why we get a different flu shot each year, because the little buggers that cause flu change very rapidly.

How does it contradict itself? Umm...Either God created the earth or we evolved from apes...they are completely different...how we were created.

Religion and Evolution are not seperate!!

They can be combined! that accually what most people think. I don't but thats a different story.

I suggest you look back a few pages, The Omega has some very good links for those who wish to learn more....

AF> Kickass sig, Kickass show!

Sorry...But I disagree...how we came about as life...the two between God creating us and us evolving from other creatures...doesn't match...God didn't create the creatures that evolved into us...if you believe religion, we were created as humans in the likeness of God. Don't mix them up...with respect to Kingcoot...and those who believe so....this is my personal opinion.

I'll attempt to make sense of this. Keep with me on this one.

Over a million years is it possible to come from apes? No.
Maybe 100s of millions. Can your mind even grasp that length of time? I can't.... sorry I can't deal with that amount of time in my mind.

We'll just say, yes, when the world undergoes billions and trillions of changes because those species that couldn't adapt to change just died out, and we were left with a human being who came from some species of ape that eventually "died out" but passed on a "early human" form. Over the next million years, Humans evolved into what we see as a standing up human, as apposed to "cavemen".

Then the human mind became aware of thoughts that eventually allowed the scientific field to be born. As humans questioned their known existence they needed a structure to discover questions. They started writing of really bizarre world events based on humans who possessed some brain power that allowed them to see past death. What is that? Yes Jesus told people to remember him, so he does live for over 2000 years. Philosophers started a pile of questions, these questions are answered in over 100 types of religions across the world now that to me, have very similar real occurrences.

It is so possible if you allow it.

#1: The Bible claims that the earth is only a couple thousand years old while evolution claims it is even older...they contradict eachother.
#2: The Bible says we (humans) were created in the likeness of him...and we were created just as we are now...evolution says that we evolved from other creatures...can you guys not see that those two contradict eachother.
I'm sorry, but that makes no sense to me.

#1 The bible speaks Abstractly on time.
#2 Humans are a likeness of God who may have been what is depicted in southpark, God as some creature of every species. Not really comical thinking about it.

I don't take the bible concretely true when it comes to the time line. The mind can't comprehend a long time, but it may have been an uncomprehensible amount time. Therefore, it wasn't listed as such in the bible. It had to be comprehend-able for readers, so thousands of years was chosen instead.

The bible may simply be an account of the humans life starting at some point where at the time was known as "a beginning".

Now we see farther back as we have acquired new knowledge.. we need to extend the time line.

If you trace the events back to the beginning, with people who have lived, and by people who believe in the bible...the timeline shows that earth was not THAT old...it is old...but not as old as evolution says...Your twisting Bible facts...There are humans and then there are animals...He did not create animals first...he created MAN AND WOMAN in the likeness of God...to govern OVER the animals...He did not say I created a species that will evolve into a human being...

I was still editing my post, and I added this..

A little insight into why I believe this way. I've taken many science classes and went to 4 1/2 years of college. To cope with a "paradox" I have accepted both are possibilities cause both theories are based on facts. We do not have all the information yet, and so there is confusion on how this all came to be, with all the contradictions.
