You think the bible makes slavery look good? How? It talks about it, but doesn't make it look good. Makes rape look good? People do it in the Bible...but God does not think it is right and tells the people that who do it...and they are punished usually...wars are real and throughout history...wars have always been going on...there is plenty of incest and murder, but God does not say it is right...I've read the Bible. I think I know what it says.
"The bible also advocates slavery, rape, war, incest and murder.
do you believe in those too?
I have a link if you want it"
Accually God Does say it is OK, he telles Abraham to marry his sister-in-law or something like that.

here's a link to tide you over, I need to dig up the one on rape and incest.
Not being crappy to eachother...just don't like people twisting around what the bible clearly says:
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over
all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth
upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the
air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Whatever your mind accepts as the truth will be the bible? Dude, that could be ANYTHING. The Bible is the Bible and God clearly outlines what he wants us to believe not what YOU WANT to believe.
Your mind makes decisions. That is certain. We chose good or evil.
The bible isn't false. It is a dated piece of literature, that at the time was ahead of its time. As literature and religion, it serves as truth.
Maybe at that time, humans were given a place and they knew how to write about it at that time. Please read my previous posts as I added and retracted wordings.
God is perfect. God is the perfect image we have thought of.
We have to be this image of God to keep living, or evil will destroy us.
(*Everything in this paragraph is abstract thinking that happens to be my belief.)
Dude, he was talking about looks...Likeness...meaning "appearance" or "form"...again, stop twisting facts...
"Wait God is perfect right?
But humans are flawed by design.
So if God Created us to be like him....and we re flawed doesn't that mean that God is flawed?"
Kingcoot, despite how we interrupt the Bible...I agree with your last comments and over all, am glad in what you believe...don't get me wrong...but there are definately points we don't agree on too...
Hunchy chooses not to read of vile acts... as do I.
I find it amusing how hunchy has failed to respond to the link with the bible passages about raping women.
Alot of the confusion resides in what is abstract, and what is concrete. The form of god is definitely abstract. We cannot see a physical shape. He is energy, kind of like the force explained in Star Wars.
Imagine, a place where religion has become fully known, you get the idea of what George Lucas is trying to bring together in star wars.
Scientific and Religious understanding is over, and people try to live and will war still exist? Hell yeah!!!
Hmm, I was just looking at the passage in Leviticus that lists sexual offenses, and I found something interesting:
7 " 'Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.
8 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your father's wife; that would dishonor your father.
Which would seem to imply that your mother, and your father's wife are different people. Surely the lord god does not honor polygamy? 😐
Ummm....actually, I did not see the link...but I have just gone to it...and I have researched my bible and the first is a misqoute and the second does not finish what it is saying. It ACTUALLY says:
"If a man sleeps with a woman who is a slave girl promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed."
Totally different meaning now huh. I don't think the actual word "sex" is used in the Bible...I believe it is "intercouse" anyway..that whole list is full of misquotes...Do you not also realize, that these were the rules at the time, the ten commandments were commandments that were set to be taken down for the rest of our human lives...

I also looked at an online version of the Bible, since I thought the quotes seemed a little different from what I remembered from Sunday School 😐
Anyways, a lot of them are indeed misquotes, or it says the wrong passage. However, it was not difficult at all for me to find the meaning, or the passage itself under a different verse number.
