Avenged Sevenfold

Started by Solo22 pages

So I was listening to the radio on my way to Applebee's. And I heard one of their songs. I was like what the **** is this? Faith No More, System of a Down? It ended up being these pieces of shit. Copying Faith No More.

Hooray for judging bands after hearing one song! 🙂

HOORAY!

Just saw them live last night for the second time. For anyone who says they're not talented; you're definitely mistaken.

These guys are amazing live, to say the least. Every member of the band is very talented with their respective instruments. Synyster Gates would pull off spectacular solos like they were nothing. Not to mention he'd also do cool "tricks" if you will while playing some of the solos.

M. Shadows never seemed to run out of breath and his voice was flawless and consistent the entire time. And whoever says they don't have any epic music, listen to The Wicked End, or maybe Strength of the World. If that doesn't sound epic to you, I wouldn't know what does.

Every member impressed me however, not just M. Shadows and Gates. Zacky also pulled off some solos (mostly backing up Gates), and those were also quite amazing. The drummer and bassist were pretty awesome as well, always playing to their fullest.

As for their image, I could really care less about how they dress, because their music is excellent (in my humble opinion of course). Anybody who doesn't like them is most definitely entitled to their opinion, but when people say they suck (or something to that affect), they're wrong, because, musically they are not bad at all.

If anyone here on KMC hasn't heard them, give them a chance and you might like em.

So because of your current hype and excitement of seeing them live, making your view anything but objective, those who don't view them as talented are wrong?

That in itself is a wrong claim. Maybe a view you disagree with, but not wrong.

You're hyped off a gig you've been waiting for, they're not all of a sudden some amazingly better band just because you've now seen them live.

Opeth are epic, Rammstein are epic, to me Avenged Sevenfold are not epic because I've experienced better. I'm not knocking your live experience, just don't appreciate you acting like your views are now reinforced and renewed because you've seen them live.

They're the same band we've always been discussing. Saying they suck isn't wrong, saying they're great isn't "wrong". They're views. You either like their music or you don't. Factually they're overrated technically, they are. As proven in this thread.

Id say seeing them put on a good live show is reason enough to make one appreciate the band more. After all, there are plenty of bands that cant play there songs well live, so when I saw Avenged play some incredibly tough songs perfectly it certainly boosted my confidence in the band. Sure, technically theyve always been as good as they were last night, but that doesnt mean I had witnessed it.

Seen them. Meh I'm not a big fan of them but there not bad. Seen them twice actually - the first time they were owned by the Lostprophets bigtime!

Absolutely, seeing a band you love actually do it live DOES make you appreciate it more.

It doesn't make them a better band, is my point. They're not better now than when we last discussed them.

we are not saying that they are somehow "better" now, we are saying that they are still the same band but we merely think more highly of them. i have seen them once before so this isn't just the hype of seeing a band for the first time, it is the hype of seeing one of your favorite bands put on an amazing show.

Yes, once again another person just reiterates my point.

My point was that they are the same band, they haven't got better, and that his review was not objectively written because of the excitement of seeing them live. He said those who think they aren't talented are "wrong" and such. They're not magically better now.

Don't reiterate my points as if you're countering me please.

He said those who think they are a bad band are wrong, in his opinion

So yeah, he said what I said he said and he was wrong to say it. Stop making excuses. He's saying that despite you having your right to an opinion, if you think they suck, you are wrong. Which is of course, factually untrue. Music itself cannot be proven to be better than another, no matter how blatant it is (although it's a given in some cases).

He's trying to say anyone who speaks negative of them is now wrong. They're technically overrated (this is a fact, you only need look at the thread) and in my opinion their music sucks. In his it's great, that's fine. I'm not wrong, thanks.

Maybe I phrased it incorrectly in your opinion, because you're overly critical AC. My point was that, it is perfectly fine for people to dislike them because they're not into that genre, but I fail to see why anyone would be correct in saying they don't have skill. For example: I don't like Tool, but I accept the fact that they are a talented band and I don't go around saying that they suck just because I'm not into them.

What I should have said to avoid confusion:

"...but when people say they suck (or something to that affect), I fail to see the logic in such a statement, because, musically they are not bad at all. Technically, as musicians, they have skill in playing their instruments. Sure, there are those who are better, but that doesn't change the fact that the members of Avenged Sevenfold have a level of skill that is above average."

I don't go around saying Avenged Sevenfold suck because I'm not into them either. I don't even "go around" saying they suck. I just say it if it's brought up because I believe they do.

Avenged Sevenfold, compared to what I listen to (technically), are average ability. They are criminally overrated as technical players. Though the topic here is their music, which you love, and that's fine.

I believe what was meant was that he doesn't care if you dislike them, but you can't call them untalented (hence, you don't have to like them but they don't suck).

SnakeEyes - Yeah, I like them. I'm not their biggest fan because I have only been listening to them since August. But I have 2 of their CDs and listen to them fairly often. I saw them tonight and I have to say I like them even more now. The long haired guitarist (sorry, don't know any of their names) was amazing. He would just pull out a 3 minute solo while everybody else was off stage. They got a pretty well set package of talented musicians with a good singer.

My 3 fav songs:
Trashed and Scattered
Bat Country
Beast and the Harlot

They didnt play Trashed and Scattered when I saw them. I was a little disappointed, but they more than made up for it when they played MIA and Strength of the World. And yes, Synyster Gates (the long-haired guitarist) is indeed an incredibly fast player.

Well a talent is having a certain ability to play instruments. They play their own instruments so it's obvious they have talent in the definition of the word. That doesn't mean what they do is good, to me.

Id call that technical ability

Talent = good music in my book

On topic, I must confess I haven't heard any Avenged Sevenfold... Dunno if I should be glad or not though.

I said before, I think they suck. I also do realise that you could do a lot worse. There are far worse bands to listen to. There are also far better.

Yeah, I was telling my friend I couldn't wait for them to play Trashed and Scattered and they didn't for Portland either. But Strength of the World was GREAT live.
