the most desturbing scene to me was when Jesus was being whipped. wow, that scene was almost unbearable... they wouldnt stop whipping him! i had the urge to jump out of my seat and yell "Stop!" to them so i kept telling myself 'its a movie'. i have never felt so much emotion watching a movie before...
and satan really creeped me out. why was satan in this movie? i mean, i don't not like it that he (or she really cuz satan was played by a female) was in the movie, it just seems weird cuz the Bible doesnt say it or any of the other Jesus movies...
oh, and that baby she was holding was really creepy...
all in all, the movie was very good and i'm glad i saw it.
I saw the movie today, and from purely an entertainment aspect I personally thought it sucked. (Sorry to be so blunt....) The only thing it really had going for it was all the controversy. I felt that it had an unfinished quality to it, like we came into the movie in the middle of the plot (which, i know, we did but it still annoyed me to no end.) It just seemed kind of sloppy, like it could pass as being a rookie filmmaker's first indie flick. Maybe it was the theater that I saw it at, but the scene progression was just bad during some points, very akin to when you watch a dvd and it skips. (But this could have been some technical problem, not sure.) I guess it just didn't live up to all the hype that surrounded it. And as far as the violence goes, yeah, it was pretty gross but that *IS* what really happened. I'd rather not have it sugarcoated. However, it didn't really bother me as much as I thought it would. The violence in American History X was worse, in my opinion. If you walked away from the movie with something good from it, then that's great. Otherwise, I really don't see what the big deal was.
Oh yeah, and the Jews *did* look pretty bad (and not even all the Jews looked bad, just the Sanhedrin) but that's what truly happened. If they made a movie about slavery, I'd look bad because I'm white.
One thing that truly bothered me about the whole thing was that when I went to see the movie, I saw a little girl there (probably about 6 or 7) and a little boy (about 9). I personally think they had no business being there, though I'm sure the parent's reasoning behind it was good. Some of the parts kind of creeped me out, and I can't possibly imagine how those kids are feeling now.
Oh and ilvorlandobloom-the character of satan was supposed to be androgynous, meaning that "he" possessed both male and female qualities. But you are right, the character was played by an Italian actress.

Maybe the scene editing was the fault of the theatre. but I wouldn't be too keen on saying that did really happen. Because not many Historian are too confident about anything from that period
Point taken. I guess what I should have said was that if you were taking it from the viewpoint of someone who had read the Bible and believed it, then that was what truly happened. But I definitely see what you're saying. Thanks for the correction.
Anyone Disappointed with Passion of the Christ?
i saw this movie on Friday and expected to be swept off my feet. and i wasnt....a lot of people are like "o this movie will change you forever" "you will be so moved and overwhelmed". maybe somethings wrong with me, but i sorta found it boring. and i walked out of the theater feeling the same way i did when i went in. people are saying that its "the best movie ever made" or one the top 10 movies ever made, but i thought it was a little above average, but the acting at points was weak. what do you all think?

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm not going to worry if it doesn't "move me". It is just a movie. It may touch some, but not others. Some movies do, some don't. Some songs do, some don't. Don't feel like there's anything wrong with you if it didn't affect you a certain way. Different people are affected on different levels by things. I'm going in with absolutely no expectations, so I hope my experience is genuine and not conjured up by what everyone else has said (good or bad) about it.
I saw this this evening, and was very touched cry
I cried the whole movie 😮
And personally I believe the acting was way above average. Jim did a wonderful job, that can't be descibed in words, the actress playing Mary did the same, and I think Monica Belucci was superb here, much different from her Persephone role.
I loved the movie, and was deeply touched, I totally give high regards to Mr.Gibson for such a powerful film.
