To yess... I think the millions that the movie makes in Syria will count just like the millions he has made in the US, UK, and around the world!! That is in addition to the lives that it has touch in Syria. So I dont think you can discount or put down Syria like you seem to be trying to do!
If we don't like a movie, it is natural to bash it. That is why we have critics, whom I despise, because I can form my own opinion about a movie. And my opinion, as far as this movie goes, is that it sucked.
I don't know his motivation, but I'm assuming that it was simply to get a message across. Christianity is the largest religion in the world, so I'm pretty sure most people already know the message Mel Gibson was trying to get across. It's a bit redundant to me. He is not a prophet because he made a movie. He has not prophecized the "Second coming of christ." All he has done is make a mediocre movie.
I know your motivation towards "bashing" this movie is simply NOT that you disliked the movies, so dont even try to claim otherwise!
The movie was a gamble whether you can see that or not, its a FACT! Try and name the last totally christian movie that was a hit?? I know for a fact that it has been a long time ago, TOO long! Alot of you are just pissed that THE PASSION has done so well, thats really sad. But that is okay, Mel and the ones of us who know the "truth" didnt expect much more from the secuilar world.

Mel a prophet?-I dont think he is I think hes just a guy that wanted to show the world Christ final hours.

You're an idiot for saying that. You don't know me, nor do you know the way I think. I don't give a shit if Mel Gibson wants to make a movie about Jesus, Satan, or Justin Timberlake. I did not like this movie and I am sticking by that. If you are to ignorant to realize that people have different opinions then I feel bad for you. Hey Kes....hate to get involved in your forum, but this thread is causing quite alot of spiteful remarks, may want to consider closing it....
That being said, this film was nothign special. It relied soley on being about Jesus Christ to be apealing at all. Just because a film is overly violent in the depiction of Jesus's death doesn't make it good. It actually makes it boring and redundant. Seeing a guy beaten for 50 minutes is not entertaining, it is not interesting or intriguing, and the fact that you have to be a hardcore cathololic to "get" this movie just proves what a failure this film really is.
I know what your'e going to respond with... "but that's how it happened, Mel Gibson is showing us how he really died without sugar coating it at all". So what? Not only is it irrelevant whether or not it actually happeend in that way, but it doesn't mean that it's a good movie.

It was a gamble, it was very risky. But all the controversy help the movie. It was great marketing (I'm not saying Mel planed it!).
You should have staied, its a great movie about reality. About ppl.
It didnt tank, it was an independent movie and those do not do well at the box office. Their also cheaper so I'm guessing it made its money back.

The movie wasn't freaking made to entertain.
Conviction is the key, that's what omegaman is saying.
if you make a movie, it's per definition for entertainment purposes...with the exception of those educational movies where this monotone voice tries to get you asleep with the dull explanations 😉
