I completely agree. I was simply bored by the film.

dude, seriously, ask my friends, if I would bash your movie, you would run out crying

I simply placed CORRECT material over your blabant lies of "it's above all movies", it clearly is not, it broke three records (best R: goody, best feb: that's good, honestly, and widest independent release: and still only three records?) than it's NOT above all movies

and saying controversy has nothing to do with it... wow... I wonder what statement can be even more wrong than this

that or all the people I know were just the only one who went to see it to know what the fuss is about

Heck, it has a fair way to go before it beats The Phantom Menace in the domestic box office...

Passion of the Christ simply only had PHENOMENAL appeal in the US. Outside the US its appeal has not been small, but not remotely on the scale of Return of the King.

It was in fact the international takings that boosted up LOTR. Takings of 317 million- well below Spiderman or, as mentioned The Phantom Menance, even below Hary Potter (which also beat it internationally first time around)- for the first film went up to 340 for the second and 375 for the third- a large enough increase to mention, but hardly drastic.

Internationally it went from 546 to 604 to the huge, billion (all-told) beating 752, so it was here ROTK made its records, and the Passion isn't going to compare much to that- if it makes more than half internationally it is doing damn well. I guess its main target is to beat Matrix Reloaded for highest worldwide R rated take.

Of course, if you start introducing inflation into the mix...

ummm, yeah The Passion for doign really good

just thought i should mention it, ROTK have sold 1 015 130 tickets in Norway, for a country of 4,5 million people that are amazing numbers.
It is still showing while POTC has its last day today

it still did pretty good, even though i'm sure alot of ppl said it wouldn't make it very far 😛

as said on numerous occasions... it did good in the USA

funnily enough it's number 5 here currently at my local cinema.... not difficult cause only have 6 or 7 movies
but nothing about the money it made here, I'll continue to search and find 😂

What The Passion does overall outside the USA is inmaterial to me as what the "friends" of backfire(& he) thinks!!

Bottom line, the movie has done what all the critics said it couldnt, and that is what is important to me!

We will have to see , in the end, what it does once its theatrical run is over. Then it will go on to set records in dvd,vhs sales too.

The fact that it hasnt done as well in europe, just reassures me that I am lucky to live in USA.

Once again, I am really not that interested in the opinion of someone who thinks that the Passion was a boring ,no good movie but "thinks" that TCM(cough cough) is a somekind of MONA LISA of the film world.Tell me backfire , how long does the torture scene(the one with grandpa and the hammer) in TCM last? I guess you found that enjoyable and real entertainment? I am really saddened that you found the reinactment of a REAl person's torture "boring" and "overdone". To me that is the same thing as saying that film footage of german concentration camps is "overdone"! Its insulting!

so... you found out that passion DIDN'T brake any big records (besides release in February), that it hugely failed in Europe, and to get passed that you go on a hissy fit about being oh so happy to live in the USA? 😐
and you go childish over the taste a member has????

instead of acting like this, bugger off for a week and come back when you're calmed down, cause this is just nothing short of being rediculous

finti, WOW, that speaks so very highly of Norway!!

No, I think I'll be around discussing the movie, if I want to.

I have already posted the records it has broken, so try reading some previous posts.

Even on this board( even though its not in the USA), I am allowed to have my opinion of what I will find as credible and what I will place little stock in!!

For one record: The Passion-1st 5 days=125.2 million and rotk= 124.1 million 1st 5 days!! My AMERICAN math says that Passion did more!

Please do not compare real to a movie. Regardless of how much you believe it depicts what truly happen it is still a movie!

Most Christians here (Portugal) think that this movie glorifies (in a bad way) the pain Christ endure. And believe it is the Christian thing to do not to watch it! So this:

The fact that it hasnt done as well in europe, just reassures me that I am lucky to live in USA.
Is a very stupid comment.

erm... if you desperatly want to have a record, get a good one
Matrix reloaded got $144,391,066 and Spider-Man $135,840,755

It's insulting? I thought you didn't care what I think. If that's the case then how can it be insulting?

Also, the scene with the grandpa and the hammer is probably around 1 minute or maybe 2. It's not nearly as drawn out as the jesus torture scenes, which last about half of the entire film.

Why on earth do you continue to compare the passion to TCM anyways? It doesn't make sense. TCM is a horror film, the Passion is a historical/drama.

Also, watching film footage of a german concentration camp wouldn't be very entertaining or interesting for very long. My interest would lapse after the first few minutes because it would just be the same thing over and over. Just like The Passion.

Its insulting to christians in general! I am comparing it because you seen to think so highly of TCM! So I am trying to figure out what you think quality movie is?

The toture scene in the Passion like the actual footage of a concentration camp , is meant to horrify you and evoke compassion NOT entertain.

You need to recheck your watch, I know that scene in TCM lasts longer than that!

Kes, you as a moderator shouldnt be calling someone stupid, is that type of insulting allowed? If so , I can call them like I see them too!
>>>How someone can find that the movie "glorifies" the pain is what I would call "stupid"

yerssy, what are you talking about?WHat are those numbers?

HOw

For the record the whipping scene last under 10 mintues! And in case you didnt know the movie IS intended to show all of the torture Jesus endured, so its kind of necessary to show everything as it happened. Also for those of you who didnt know... research the movie's title...its means "the suffering of the Christ", so you should have know going in what you were going to see! I did , so I saw what I expected to. Educating yourself ...its a good thing, try it!

Omegaman Kes didnt call you stupid she called the comment stupid, there is a big difference

secondly about horrifying and evoking compassion, no movie image ever did that for me, images from the news which I know are authentic on the other hand do, I do understand BF however that he'd lose interest in those images, watching 15 minutes of repetitive images will cause attention laps with almost everybody
