Oh, the other thing I am worried is misleading is the idea that Tilulla's concept might be better served by the new templates.
That's unlikely, because one thing I learned years ago that just trying to make "Alien Jedi", with the only distinction being an alien, doesn't work. You need an underlying thematic thing that makes you a Jedi that conceptually requires you to be alien for it to work. As it happens, that might be easier on the Dark Side.
Btw, I will likely keep a version of the Pariah/Corsair split, because I can make that work, though not in the way it exists now (Pariahs would need renaming as they;d not automatically be ex-Jedi).
I really should add though... you Dark Side combat guys all play like Corsairs, not Pariahs. The very fact you proudly call yourselves the Psycho Brigade shows this. There's meant to be a hint of culture and nobility to a Pariah; the reserved Dark Knight. Corsairs are psychopaths. It starts to look really gimmicky that Galder has to get the Outsider social penalty but not Rianna and Xavier.
Indeedy so.
And even if uncoupled from ex-Jedi, the difference between a Pariah (renamed) and a Corsair is still going to be the difference between an evil knight (that's knight in the courtly sense) and a pirate.
Or, in Game of Thrones terms, Gregor Clegane- despite his technical knighthood- is a Corsair; a huge, utterly immoral psycho butcher who rapes and murders his way around the country. Someone like Jaime, especially in the first book, is more like a Pariah. Sure, he's most famous for backstabbing his own king he was meant to be bodyguarding and kicks things off by pushing a child out the window to protect his secret, but he did these things with reasoning and he is, in general, well-spoken and reasonable to be around, whilst also being arrogant and acutely conscious that he is not as smart as others. He's also a master swordsman and the tv version also has him very irritated that he didn't get a straight duel with Sean Bean- that's the kind of swordfighting pride that fits perfectly.
Would the Heretic be affected at all? I feel like he could be a little more... weird, if that makes sense. Obviously you can't dole weird new powers out to me just because I'm a Heretic but then the weirdness of everyone we've come into contact with lately makes me think about it. Azarl's Force weirdness is only his mentality about it all.
Well that's true; Clegane counts as a Brute.
Well, you can still come up with any number of Corsairs in Game of Thrones- like Vargo, or any of the Brave Companions.

As Gallador alluded to above, the issue with the Heretic is thematic distinction from the Apostate, as with many of the Outsider templates which were created just to mirror the Jedi/Renegade things.
To be fair, Rianna and Xavier tend to not get involved with social stuff at all...
I think part of it is that originally there wasn't much of a thematic difference between the two stated, beyond the literal skill differences (and really, the description given for my template really doesn't suggest a more reserved type at all). I also, at the time of joining, basically went with "Dark Sider = angry and violent" thing without thinking too much about it. I've been trying to gradually shift things a bit but I guess not as much as I'd intended so far?
Though I don't automatically disagree with everyone anymore (except Rand but...blaim backstory for that 😛), and after the Ghost Citadel I did start moving away from the "always angry all the time" idea more.
I do want to point out that you originally came up with the PB name after our sneaking attempt was blown and we decided to just get it over and charge 😛 We keep the name because it amuses us, the four of us use the swordsman-type templates, and we tend to stick together, not because we're literally psychotic (though a level of psychosis is rather implied in the Pariah template description).
...this was too long of a post to type from my ipod.
Well of course not! It's hilarious. And if there's anything we are (well, I am), it's easily amused.
I do remember you saying on Newhaven (I'm horrible at remdmbering episode names, I identify them by events) that I'd be the next one to start going completely insane like Galder was...😛
Also in Ghost Citadel, when you said I had surprised you by ultimately going with a different emotion than I'd been reacting with most of the game...I've actually made use of that since!
I would just like to point that Xavier is extremely noble... for a dark sider.
He has a sense of honor, of respect, and generally if someone is nice to him he will watch their back with everything he's got.
He's crazy to but that's besides the point. After all Xavier was willing to make sure that all the Eperians we could get out got out, even willing keeping himself from getting into an escape route. In short Xavier leaves no man behind if he can. 😛
It's also the reason I decided for Xavier to get smarter and take Medicine. I figure he's probably the biggest team player here 😛

Which is funny as he nearly always goes down...😛Also, on the finesse thing mentioned...I do find it rather appropriate that the two Corsairs are essentially dedicated mook-killers in combat, whereas we (Rianna especially) tend to be more geared for one on one fights against bigger enemies.
That is a nice distinction.
