It's official. This is indeed the last season.

there is still the live action film...
i am hopeful something can be worked out with nbc
True, but it's their show right?
I can't see a rival company buying the rights to 24 and then putting the same amount of money into it that Fox did when the show ratings are declining. Also, the fact that there isn't a overall storyline like Heroes where diehard fans will be uber pissed if Heroes was stopped halfway through the storyline.
Think you guys are missing this part.
"Star Kiefer Sutherland told EW.com that producing a ninth season for another network like NBC was not an option because he and executive producer Howard Gordon were ready to call it quits."
But yes typically when a new network buys a cancelled show they only do it if they think they can produce it cheaper.
..more on the movie
"Sutherland promised the series finale would tee up the 24 movie that’s in the works at 20th Century Fox. Billy Ray (State of Play) is writing the screenplay. “We wanted to create a definitive end for Jack Bauer,” explains Sutherland. “Since we do have the intention to make the feature film, it would lead into that and certainly set that up."
This is the best news IMO. A good film to wrap it all up and then forget about it for a while. Then when you need your fix down the road watch old season dvds.

True but then again they have stuck with Heroes and the ratings for that have been declining since season 1.

I was glad to see the President and was pleasantly surprised with the political storyline.I hope they keep the momentum going. Should make for a fitting final season if it keeps going this way.
yeah i agree and looking at the previews i am glad the IRK Pres is taking initiative
I thought the two-hour event was quite good. There were some pacing issues but I was pleasantly satisfied. The ending was particularly stellar.
I know I might get some sh*t but I'm in the minority that thinks Hassan didn't deserve a silent clock. That's not to say he was a badly written character -- far from it -- but I don't feel his death warranted it.

i agree, good two hours.. same here, i was hoping hassan would live
Pretty good 2 hours. I for one liked the parking scene between Dana and Cole. It brought flashbacks of Jack and Nina. As for Dana's motivations I would like them to be more than what they were. Maybe tie her to Victor Drazen now that the series is coming to an end. I was surprised to see Hassan go. Now that they have the bomb and the peace treaty seems to be dead, I wonder whats in store for the rest of the season.
