One betrayal more in man spider 2, doc ock wont be myopic

Your tired of people posting that then huh!? well get use to it. People are posting thier opinions and have a right too, such as you as well. I don't see why you people who flam the movie are even going to see the sequel or even saw the first one. It's very pointless. The creaters needed to make some of the characters evolve since the Spider-Man theme is loosely based around the 70's. The Green Goblins costume change were the best, and I can't believe people actually laughed in the cinema when they saw it. I'm guessing they were a bunch of 30 year old nerds that have nothing better to do but critise a good movie, if they laughed at that then they're very pathetic and need to get a life. As for those webshooters, thats a bunch of bull. A 15 year old could not create something like that. If they added that into the movie then it would be fantasy bullocks. The webbing being part of his powers made the movie better. If they made the webshooters then the movie would have done worse, more people like the idea of it being part of his metamorphosus then the people who want his webbing to be organic. Get over it, they are not going to change it for future movies no matter how much fans complain. The Green Goblin is dead and will not be appearing in anymore Spider-Man films so quit your worrying about hius costume, you won't have to see it again.

Read the comic and understand where the "haters" are coming from. You really are speaking from ignorance, not opinion.

Like you said, everybody is entitled to an opinion, but nobody respects an opinion if it is based on ignorance. Not only do you ignore any relevant comparisons to the comic books, you also ignore everybody elses points, and insisting on flaming them afterwards.

I'm trying to get everybody to look at it more subjectively, rather than "hate it" or "love it". If you took the time to actually WATCH the movie, and grew up on the comics like HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of others, then maybe you wouldn't be posting such ignorant garbage.

I never said I hated the movie - get off my case, and read at least one of the comic books, so at least you know what you are talking about for chrissakes. The Green Goblin, if you knew your Spiderman stories - is still alive. There were also several versions including Harrys Goblin. He is far from dead, and is probably the one bad guy I'd say they'd bring back for another movie. Again, complete lack of knowledge.

Heck, MY opinions mean shit to some, but at least I try and balance the discussion, weighing both the bad and the good. I refuse to be a hater or a fanboy. As a Spiderman fan, I thought the movie did some monumentally stupid and offensive (to the real fans) things, but it never spoilt the movie and I still enjoy it to this day.

So please, don't give me any preachy bullshit, we've heard it all before, and nine times out of ten, I'd rather side with the haters than the fanboys - at least the haters actually know their stuff. Admittedly, some over-analyse it. Me? I don't. I just picked up on the most obvious faults and I have given my arguements based on educated opinion.

finally some sense in this discusion, I looked at the DVD last night, I dont remember who said it but there were some desings for the Goblin that looked good and would have kicked ass on the big screen why they didnt get used is beyond me.

and for the last time they COULD have easily used webshooters, they just decided not too

Yeah I think I mentioned those pics from the DVD before. THAT's what I meant. How good did those designs look?

I think thats what pissed off fans who bought the DVD and saw the concept art for the Goblin.

It's like: "You had THAT in mind at first, and yet you gave us the Green Power Ranger instead? How on Earth could that have been better? What planet are you on?"

But, some liked the costume (and, funnily enough, are the same people who a) Don't care about Spiderman or the Goblin, or b) Never knew what people were moaning about because they hadn't read a single comic with goblin in it).

And, now that I think about it, it's because I'm such a fan of drama and storytelling that made me dislike the costume.

I bet, if they used the same suit, but the head was animated (and therefore able to convey the drama portrayed by Dafoes brilliant acting), then I bet I probably wouldn't complain at all. Goblin was all about the changing face. It's like giving The Joker a mask.

The Goblin was supposed to look like a fearsome Goblin, as he wanted to strike fear into people - not a guy blatently wearing a mask. (incidentally - this makes Aunt May look incredibly stupid - she thought that thing was real, oh dear)

Using a bit of imagination and technical know-how, the perfect Goblin could have easily been achieved (heck it was RIGHT THERE in the concept stage) - but they really balls it up.

yeah, I mean the very first image was already a step up, and I think two desings in particular were perfect. the one with the sharp arm blades and then the suit that looked like it had neon on specific points

Those guys responsible for making the movies know for a fact that people like us are going to watch--it's just a given--it's the people who don't read comics that they're catering to. Try to introduce the concept of organic web shooters to your average American--I guarantee they'll have no IDEA of what you're talking about. These same people won't understand about Doc Ock's different look or even know who Gwen Stacey is. As fans, we have every right to complain and I'm sure the creators would concur--so long as it means we're still watching, reading comics and buying marvel merchandise. Complying with all of the above gives us all the right in the world to nit-pick...

No it doesn't. Spider-Man was made for one reason only: to make money. The producers and the director couldn't care less about the remarks of some over-analyzing comic fans. The first movie was a huge success, so you can bet your ass that the second movie will be made following the same strategy as the first one : making money. And if some changes have to be made (storywise), then so be it.

Mind you, I liked the first movie.

I liked the first movie - and seeing as I bought a ticket to go see it, and also bought the DVD the day it came out, and the fact that I grew up with Spiderman, means I have every right to slam it as aggressively as I want to. It means Mr Parker et al have all the right in the world to call it man-spider, because they have been the loyal fans.

Put it this way, anybody that buys anything is allowed to say "man, that aspect sucks they need to change it".

I will still be eagerly waiting impatiently in the queue for Spiderman 2 when it comes out. It's the one movie I am truly hyped to see. It better be good!

How can you dare call yourself a Spider-Man fan if you can't even enjoy the movie due to some insignificant detail?!?! I really don't understand it. There are many things that work on the page but not on the screen. I, myself, I am a big fan of comic book characters, and all of the virtues and stylistic artistry, but that does NOT keep me from enjoying a well-constructed movie marred by a couple inconsistencies! For instance: I was a little annoyed that they changed the uniforms in X-Men. But then, I realized: "Does it really matter?" The new ones looked better anyway.

Whether or not Spider-Man's webshooters are mechanical or genetic in inconsequential. If Spider-Man didn't have webshooters at all, now THAT would be something to complain about. Catwoman, for instance, has a lot to complain about. Catwoman isn't white (not that physical appearance really matters in this field, as long as it's well-acted (many 'true' comic book fans have a hard time accepting this). Another thing about Catwoman: It has no connection to Batman, but they used a DC comic copyrighted character for it anyway. That, annoys me. A hell of a lot more than TINY things like a webshooter

I just hope in Spiderman 2 the people of New York start to hate him again, just like good old times. Spiderman isn't a hero like Superman - the people mistrust him - at the end of the first movie ALL of New York seemed to congregate on the bridge to help Spiderman, capping it with the cheesy "you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us" line. I hope they leave cheesy happy bits like that OUT of the next one.

You may have the right, but it won't change a thing. Not in the least. And what's the point of buying something and then calling it "Man-Spider" because a few little changes have been made ? (Yes, I consider the organic webshooters as a little change.)

I don't call that being loyal fans. It's better to focus on the positive aspects of the movie (good acting, good Spider-Man costume, great fx, good casting - except that Harry Osborn - and some awesome scenes) than to bring up the same complaints all the time. I'm not talking about you, Red Superfly, just talking in general.

I always enjoyed these forums. Regardless of whether I agreed or disagreed with any particular individual never mattered because I could always express my opinions, but as of recent some things have gotten pretty annoying. Why is everyone obsessing over the 'true-fan' crap? Is it really that important? Also, when did people start insulting one another? That really is the lowest form of argment. If you don't have an kind of point to make, or any kind of topic to add just wait until you can catch up and then come in with something, but leave the name calling and bashing at home.
