The doom3 experience turns into the expereince you have when you play the original doom ten years after playing it for the first time. This game is more annoying than anything. If an enemy has a gun, you are taking damage, there is no way around that. You cannot strafe away from bullets like you can in every other Fps, it may not be real, but niether are sapce demons. If the enemy shoots rockets or fireballs then your usually not going to get hit at all.It is to easy to dodge fireballs and to hard to dodge bullets.
I remember playing this game and so many times i would die because an enemy would appear behind me with no kind of ambient warning. There are limited options as far as gameplay goes. The story is the same exact story from every other doom game. On the box version you cannot control the speed of your turning. It really is by all means a below average Fps. However, the atmosphere sells it and does make up for most of it's flaws as long as you can get through the repetition.
In most fps games, shooting the bad guys stays fun through out the game, or atleast doesnt become dreadfull. It is always close quarter combat, which become tedious and annoying, especially when you want to strafe. To it's credit, the game does play smooth for the most part, and the graphics are damn good, not geat, but good.
