I'm glad to see here that most people agree SS would trump Thor...so how the hell did Thor beat Surfer the 3 times they fought? My theories are as follows...

1). They fought the first time in SS's first mag (issue 4 was it?). SS was first empowered by Loki (after fighting Loki to a draw), then fought Thor in Asgard, and as I remember it, Thor was winning, with SS acknowledging Thor's enormous power.
First of all, keep in mind that the Surfer at this time was no where near his original power level, his power first reduced by Galactus then the sonic shark, to only a fraction of his original level. At best, Loki could only have doubled what Surfer was left with, leaving SS still far below his original level, and thus below Thor's level. Plus SS was fighting Thor on Thor's home turf.

2) SS fighting Thor with warrior madness. As I understand it, warrior madness upped Thor's power tenfold. As such I legitmately give this to Thor.

3) Again, I heard there was a third fight, but never read it. Does anyone know?

My point is, Surfer (especially currently, with his powers restored) should be Thor's superior. Even Wizard thinks so (although, they also think Flash is all that).

I'm going with SS because he's marginally more versatile than Thor. Could go either way though. Depends on the writer?

Silver Surfer is more powerful if you define powerful as the ability to use his energy in many different and verstile ways, but all the vast abilities surfer has at his disposal dont necessarily affect the outcome here. This is a fight and many of surfers abilities have no direct effect on a battle. It comes down to this....surfer and thor are approx the same in durability and somewhere comparable in strength as well. Generally Surfer has more powerful energy attacks , but thors godforce blast trumps what surfer brings there, so that is approx even as well. The fighting ability and the berserk rage or warrior madness put thor top in this fight all other things being considered.

Silver Surfer can rip the solar energy and gamma energy right out of Superman and Hulk, respectfully. They are no match for him. He has no easy way to defeat Thor - there's a reason Wizard ranked them #1 & 2. This is so tough and close to call, and they are my two favourites at Marvel, that I need to be on the fence a while longer. 📖

Gah SS Sucks he has what 1 to 2 percent of galactus powwer cosmic and can smack down everyone.........lame now if I am wrong about his power cosmic then thats different but I thought he had a small percentage Thor using his God powers should own this sucka

I have the issue your pic is from. This was warrior-madness Thor, whom I feel should legitimately beat Surfer (note: major Surfer fan here). Otherwise, I don't see SS beating Thor, especially since SS defeats the Hulk everytime, which Thor hasnt done.

But mostly: They Missed each other!! Bogus!! And even so, Surfer shoulda been able to fire off a second blast with his other hand (you can see it locked 'n' loaded), before the hammer came back.

This merely proves what we all know and rarely speak of: the Ultimate Powers are the writers.

beacause BRB = Thor Silver Surfer is more poweful than both.

SS can easily separate thor's hammer from him.

SS hardly ever looses in one on one battle

If they Brawl h2h: Thor wins.

If they fight long-range: SS wins unless Thor uses the Godforce.

Thor is one a few beings that can take down silver surfer and thanos the other. You can't rearrange his molecules because he will turn back to normal, and the hammer will absorb any energy beam attack.

Silver Surfer will have to keep thor from a distant if not thor will kick his head in, remember when thor went warrior madness silver surfer couldn't hang and almost got killed.

TRUE bloodlust thor already beat the living %^$# out of ss. and adam warlock was WITH him!! true bloodlust thor is warrior-mad, and singlehandedly battled the whole infinity watch. he crushes ss, with zero trouble.

even without warriro-madness, i think thor takes it. it's already been proven ss can't do jack to thor's hammer. and i'll use the saem argument guys use for superman - why COULDN'T thor simply absorb the energy from surfer? or maybe banish him to a realm where there is no starlight/cosmic energy for him to absorb thereby shutting off his power? don't think it would work? the stranger encased him in some black light sphere and ss was f'd. a similar effect weakened him to the point where WONDERMAN was beating the crap out of him. ss CAN be drained, his source of power (ambient cosmic) CAN be blocked. why couldn't thor do it?

answer: he COULD. as much as people hate to hear it, thor is very nearly as versatile as ss -- only his hammer is well above the ss.

SS was scared shitless of Thor when he was in bloodlust mode. Problem is, he also had the power gem.

He had the power gem after he kicked SS and BRBs ass. SS would of died, if warlock didn't intervene.

the surfer in blood lust will kill thor and there fighting in space sorry thor gets his ass handed 2 him easily
