They were cheap shots... no way to deny that. The same thing Thor did to Surfer, Thanos did in those scans.

The dialogue gets pretty hilarious. Fraction went a over the top again. I lol'd at the board from behind trick.
Imo, Surfer comes off looking a bit better in the brief scuffle. It's probably the fact he doesn't seem to be as invested in the fight. Course, the two were only just about to cut loose. Too bad Odin cut it short. Thor was about to leave a permanent dent in the Surfer's hide.
It'll be interesting to see how the match up in #4 goes as Thor gets even weaker. Fraction hasn't really placed Thor in a situation where he has had to significantly kick it up a notch. He referenced Lee a lot, perhaps when push comes to shove, his Thor makes as big of a jump.
Not really sure what to expect at this point. Either way, this arc will cause quite a stir one way or another.

Anyways, we'll see see soon enough. I wouldn't have thought Thor could damage his shell with a head butt or that Surfer would remain unaffected by such a dent. Perhaps Fraction is treating Surfer closer to Female Ultron/Captain Atom rather than Colossus in regards to his physical make up. If he is, it'll be interesting to see how Thor will be able to noticeably affect him with damage.

I seem to remember two different instances.
Way back one where airfare physical body was warped making us think his entire body is made of the silver stuff...
And another where it appeared as though it was just a coating on his humanoid skin...
