Dont' know if it's necessarilly a dream team but they're my favorite of all time...or at least since I've been watching futbol.

Thierry Henry, Bergkamp, Ljungberg, Sol Campbell, Patrick Kluivert, Davids, Zidane, Larsson, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank, Didier Drogba, Okocha, El-Hadji Diouf, Damien Duff, Davor Suker, Hakan Sas, Vieri, Cannavaro, Pipo Inzaghi, Baggio, Toto Schilachi, Cafu, Taffarel, Jurgen Klinsmann

This isn't exactly a ''dream team'', but it's my fantasy team in the league one of my friends set up. I tried to go for the best team I could pick without choosing anyone really obvious, i.e. Henry, Ronaldinho, Ballack, Shevchenko etc.

P. Robinson
R. Kovac
W. Gallas
E. Eboue
C. Marchena
Ze Roberto
A. Pirlo
Y. Toure
D. Beasley
L. Toni
Z. Ibrahimovic

Damn! I can't beleive I left off Paolo Maldini.

A nice, little pub-team:

----------------------------------P. Jennings.............................

-----------------B. Moore........F. Baresi...........F. Beckenbauer

..........................................B. Charlton..............................

..............J. Cryuff.....................................M. Platini............

.Garrincha..............................................................G. Best.

-------------------------------Maradona..................................

.........................................Pele.......................................

You can't play Charlton just infront of the back line 🙁

GK: Lev Yachin
CB: Paolo Maldini
CB: Daniel Passarella
RB: Franz Beckenbauer
LB: Ruud Krol
CM: Michel Platini
CM: Johan Neeskens
RM: Zico
LM: Johan Cruyff
S: Pele
S: Ferenc Puskas

Subs: Gentile, Breitner, Rijkaard, Jairzinho, Di Stefano, Van Basten

With a team like that, you wouldn't need the individual skills of Best, Garrincha or Maradona, or their questionable lifestyles ruining everything.

I guess it's like playing Franz Beckenbauer at right-back...

This is how I would play my team....

Starting lineup..

Henry---------------------Kluivert--------------------Baggio

----------------------------Zidane----------------------------

----------Lundberg---------------------Okocha-------------

--------------------------Davids-----------------------------

Campbell------------------Cafu-----------------------Maldini

--------------------------Taffarel-----------------------------

A 3-4-3 formation with a 3-3-1-3 variant on offense and a 3-1-3-3 on defense.

Subs...Bergkamp,Larsson,Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank,Didier Drogba, El-Hadji Diouf,Damien Duff,Davor Suker,Hakan Sas,Vieri,Cannavaro,Pipo, Toto, Totti, Klinsmann

there are loads of players better than kluivert, okacha, campbell, davids, llungberg

Maybe a few, don't know about loads?, but they're my favorites and I'd pit them against any other dream team any day.

Btw, I notice I'm really thin on defensive substitutes, so I'll add Nesta and Kahn as backups.

He's the best defensive player of all time, and played center back, sweeper and midfield to equal effect during his career. Being as versatile and brilliant as he was, somehow I think he could just about manage the huge task of drifting out a few yards to right back if he was in a team that contained Maldini and Passarella.

Yeah, just as playing in a holding position would be so far beyond the capabilities of Bobby Charlton...

It probably wouldn't no, but it would be a massive waste. It's the equivalent of England playing Steven Gerrard there now. If you're going to have a holding player in a dream team, you might as well pick someone who actually did/does play in that role.

Apply that principal to your selection at right-back, and then you may have a leg to stand on. Otherwise...*farts*.

Let me explain with more detail. Beckenbauer was an extremely versatile defender, a pioneering attacking sweeper and then defensive midfielder. Bobby Charlton was an attacking midfielder-cum winger.

Beckenbauer playing at right fullback is the same as Beckenbauer playing at center back, only this time he's got more width to launch counter attacks, something he was an expert at, so actually, now that I think about it, my positioning of him could actually be just as beneficial as where he originally played. Charlton playing in the holding role neutralises his two big strengths; his shooting and his pace. Since he has to play very deep and constantly be looking to break up opponents attacks, he cannot get forward and use those strengths that made him an asset, hence, a waste.

I have the legs of an Eastern European gymnast to stand on.
