Dude, you're gonna stop the clock at midnight? Where are you going comic shopping at midnight? Well, you win, then. I'm just gonna wait til I'm downtown tomorrow. Are you scanning yours? I'll scan mine, too, but only AFTER Venom #17.
Hey Duke--what's the date on that? Do you remember? I f you could get it on here, I'd appreciate it mightily.
You don't have 1-16?!? You'd better get 'em while you can. No wonder you don't like the art. I don;t know anybody that hasn't read the books that actually enjoys the art in this book. That explains alot.
Venom and Carnage was pretty good, but not as good as I thought it would be. Next issue will be better, and by no means was it bad, but it certainly wasn't the best book I snagged today, and it failed to live up to my very lofty expectations. That's EXACTLY why they shouldn't give us spoiler art 3 or 4 months before the book comes out.
But, if you guys have not yet purchased this book, you'd be ill-advised not to do so. Go get it. And Venom #17. And Spidey's Sins Past, pt. 2--and I want to thank Mane for recommending the arc--IT IS EXCELLENT.
Well, I don't know, The art was best from what was in the original Venom Miniseries' that ran in the 90s. The story is alright, I knew I should have waited until the last book came out, then read all at once. I got Venom: Twist parts 1-4 (Venom 14-17) as well. Should I read them now or get Venom 1-13?
I like the cover art, it's the inside art that you see on every page that's not all appealing to me. It has its own unique still as everything does, I just am not attracted to the majority of the modern animation/comic art. I say animation because they cut corners and use less detailing than what once was. Examples include triangles instead of ovals, straights instead of curves, just not enticing, fetching, or alluring enough in my opinion.
Well, being familiar with the story in retrospect will only increase your appreciation for the seemingly choppy and unrelated beginning, so, by all means, read "twist", and maybe even the "patterns" arc before you start with "shiver". A few people had told me individually that they sometimes had to read some of the issues a couple, if not several times, to fully understand the concept of the book. It IS a complicated story, but well worth the time.
As for the art, I know, Iknow. But it WILL grow on you. The people I have turned on to this story--there have been about 25 at last count--have ALL become slobbering, panting fans of the book, and each of them have breathlessly concluded that the more they get of it, the more they want. Just like me. 'Nuff said.
So, you liked the art of the Venom/Carnage book, but how did you feel about the story? It was good, I thought, I guess it just wasn't what I expected. I did however, expect Venom to take a protagonistic stance in this series, and I'm glad i was right about that.
Oh, you haven't read ANY of it, then? If you haven't then don't start with "twist". I only say that because if you start here, you won't have any idea what is going on, and you likely won't want to continue. I would say that would be akin to reading only the last 50 pages of Dante's "Inferno" or "Paradise Lost" or some other epic tale--you'd have no appreciation for the scale and content of the actual body of work.
If you were so inclined, I think you could actually skip the second arc entirely--it's called "run", but it guest stars Wolverine, and the cloned Venom symbiote actually assimilates Logan in the arc, and briefly wields an awesome set of adamantium claws, so if you're a fan of the man, then, by all means...however the content in the arc isn't completely crucial to the plot, and I think you could piece together what happens without buying it if you wanted. But I recommend getting it all. If you did, and you read it all in sequence, you couldn't help but love the story, and MAYBE, just maybe, have gained an appreciation for all the different artists who contributed.
Good luck finding all the issues. Some people have said that they can't find the back issues at all, but there does seem to still be a few around my town in all 3 of my comic shops. I have heard of people selling a couple of the books for as much as $20 apiece, so get busy if you're planning on snagging them.
Sorry if these posts are messy, I'm kinda drunk right now, so bear with me. And, I'll try not to post too much art that might spoil things for you.
I just finished reading 'Twist' parts 1-4, I don't see why people need to reread the books to understand them. 3 comic shops? I have a mere 18 to nitpick. 4 of them are Atomic Comics, they are a vast source of information as well as comics, They have had everyone that I bought other than Venom: Sinner Takes All #3. I am certain they have them, in fact that's where I got Venom 14-17, Venom and Carnage today. How long should it take to warm up to the art? I still don't put it into a 'top 25' category. However, the cover art is in the 'top 20.' [sarcasm]I liked the ads they placed in the comics, though.[/sarcasm] (These tags are purposful).
In Venom and Carnage, I feel that we have missed something. Like coming into a conversation in the wrong place, you know? I wish that it would be a longer run, sigh. The story is pretty good, so far. Always expect the worst, then no disappointments have a chance to disappoint.
Yeah, Pheonix has tons of attractive things, but the heat is literally able to kill. I mean you can boil eggs on the sidewalk, in a pan, at about 1800. Within walking distance I have ~30+ fast food type places, 5 theaters, 5 movie rentals, ~15 retail deparment stores/food & drug, countless resteraunts, 10 schools, 6 churches, 4 amusement things (Chucky Cheese, Peter Piper Pizza), 5 computer component sellers (Fry's Electronics, PC Club). Within reasonable driving distance too many to count. I like it only because of that. I want to get out of here yesterday, because of the heat! I can't because of school, argh!
If you love the series so, why don't you get a scanner yourself? Office Max has a All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier for $70, and I'm sure you can buy an ordinary scanner for $30 nowadays.
I would only beable to scan Lethal Protector #4, or any of these:
Sinner Takes All #1-5
Along Came A Spider #2,3
The Hunted #3
Lincens To Kill #2
Separation Anxiety #1,3
Super Special: Planet of the Symbiotes #3
Twist #1-4
Venom and Carnage #1
Spider-Girl #5
Amazing Spider-Man #410
Spider Woman #11 (not actually the symbiote 😠 )
That is my collection of comics so far, once I get some spending money I'll get all missing books of the above listed arcs/mini-series.
Also Fridays, between 2030 and 2330 -07GMT I'll be unavailable in the forums due to insufficient funds (no satellite/cable TV). I also need a host for my signatures and avitars, can anyone help me with that?
