Ok, one way or another, I'll be assuming a close-range attack from Galder. He rolls -1 for a hit, though only because of his Sword Whirl! 18 damage.
Doon opens fire; he rolls +1 for a 15; a total of eleven damage.
(Sabres are just better...)

You can certainly make your way to it quickly enough, Takuan. And so you reach the huge mechanised loading area- complete with robots and conveyer blets and huge cargo crates- at roughly the same time an Osokan Hunting squad arrives there and spots you. Eeek!
Sorry, Tanic, do you carry Light or Heavy blasters?
Ok then, that is a two frame attack. You roll +2 for a 15; a hit!
Grand total of two points of damage, Tanic. You stare at your guns, wondering if they are powered correctly. The shot skims the Osokan's side clothing and burns his arm and he barely notices.
Rules Note- Why did this happen?
Ok, here is how that worked. Light Pistols do nine damage. However, when you get hit, all damage is subtracted by your Strength. Osokans have a ridiculous Strength rating of 10. This means the basic damage of a Light Pistol against an Osokan is... -1.
Now, Both Guns Blazing effectively doubles this final damage. Sadly, that would mean doubling to -2, making them worse! Luckily, the rules for BGB state this:
"The minimum extra damage a BGB attack can do, compared to a single gun attack, is +1 more than normal."
So what actually happens is that the -1 becomes a not QUITE so crap 0. Which means the Light Pistols do no damage to Osokans at all, beyond the Outcome of the firer's roll (Outcome, as defined in the Glossary, is the amount you pass a roll by). When dodging, as Tanic's target did, the difficulty to hit him was 13. Tanic rolled a 15, and so hit him by two... and so did 2 damage.
'But wait!' I hear you cry. 'Doon's gun seemed to work!' Ok, that's easily answered. First, he is using a heavy blaster- slower, but with a base damage of 13 and a Mook Killing Power bonus built in, meaning he starts at 5 damage to an Osokan, not -1. More importantly, Doon has three levels of Carnival of Carnage, the specific anti-mook/supermook power, which is giving him an additional four damage per attack, and making him faster to boot. Against one of the Captains, who are not mooks, you will find that Doon is rather more ineffectual
So, Light Blasters are crap? Not at all- they are very good at quickly taking out opponents, where Heavy Blasters take time that you cannot discount in the way you can discount your sabre attack times with Force powers. It just so happens Light Blasters are no good against Osokans- that's the way it is; different tools are good for different jobs. Other times, it will be the Heavy users complaining.
