So, and what was Wotan/Odin "responsible" for? He was the father of all......... he had this cute horsie with eight legs, Sleipnir... he is the husband of Freja I think and father of Donar? no idea... god of death and battle... isnt he this raven-god-thingy, always accompagnied by two ravens? And the god of runes ✅ lovely story in the Elder Edda 😊

but you are doing your homework...
in spanish the days are similar in latin except for friday(viernes) and sunday(domingo)???
lunes
martes
miercole - root word mier
jueves - from jove

Well they ARE practically the same... as in all roman languages... Lunes - Lundi - Lunedì ..... Martes - Mardi - Martedi ...... Miercole - Mercredi - Mercoledi [mier? what is mier? isnt it rather again from Mercury?] ......... Jueves - Jeudi - Giovedi (Jupiter) ....... Viernes - Vendredi - Venerdi < Venus ........ only Sunday is a lil weird (Domingo - Dimanche - eeks what was it again in Italian *thinks* Domenica?)

Fascinating lol I never realized that before 😄

according to the story, Woten or Wotan or Odin is the father of all...but he gave an eye I forget why...but his ravens are like the eagles and birds of Manwe...Mainly if i remember right, Odin bears the only son, not Thor, I think Balder that survives Ragnarok...to rebuild Aesgard...*must look it up again*

Domenica...

Domenica...

Dimanche... Domenica... Latin Dominicus was also called Solis, "Sun"... but whence the other name? An other name of it was "Lux Domini" - the Light of the Lord?? Maybe because the Lord created Light= the Sun? Domenica, Dominicus, all that sounds a lil "Lord"-ish... but pure speculation... Day of the Lord... would sound logical though 🙂

Btw, obviously all days of the Week - at least the Roman ones - are also names of Planets, the Five Planets that were first known because they weren't too far from the Earth, and sun and moon... (in their real order) Sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn (hope that's correct lol 😛 )

Now these planets were already known in ancient Babylon who already had each day divided into 24 hours; I just read somewhere that maybe they named the days after the planets that "belonged to" the first hours of each of the days? 😑
Because of their course over the firmament, each planet belonged to a certain hour on each day...

and now im being ignored because of greek/roman/wherever history 😑

*runs off to otf for a while*

✅ ✅
I mean, at least here in Austria Sunday is still often called "Tag des Herren", "day of the Lord" - Domenica / Dimanche / whatever 🙂
