Again, as I've stated before, being jealous of someone doesn't give you the right to verbally abuse them, by calling them hurtful names, and even going as far as saying you hate them. You know nothing about her, saying you hate her is out of line.

i kinda agree with you, i don't hate her. and no, i don't think she doesn't fit the part, for some reason she did, so that's why she got chosen. and no, i don't think she's ugly (for w/e reason other ppl's saying) so i have NOTHING (for those of you who think i'm nasty b/c i hate her, look carefully) against katie, or her being in the movie. i'm just complainning, (for all kind of reasons) that's all.

For now on, I would suggest thinking clearly about what you really want to say before you say it. You've allowed yourself to get defensive, and overly emotional, and are taking all of this far to personal. So you don't like her, we get that already. Let it go. A word of advice, write a rough draft of what you really want to say, read it over a few times, try to fix any spelling and grammar errors, and make sure you're thinking logically and not emotionally or else you're just going to keep getting flamed.

NOW, to try to get back on topic why don't we stop with the flame war, and actually start to talk more about Katie, without hurtful remarks, and see if we can't have a civilized conversation.

I'm in a good mood after reading Diamond's post so will reply to your silly question. Of course I have been jealous because I'm human therefore I exhibit that emotion. However, I would not go onto a forum and declare I hate someone because I'm jealous of them. Nor would I act like a spoilt little brat and start moaning about how life is unfair because "I can act, I wanna be in movies" etc.

This may be a cliche but very true - "Life's a b****" - we don't always get what we want from life so what is the point in moaning about another person's gain? That is exactly what you are doing. Because you think you should have the opportunity offered to Katie, you dislike her, which is totally unintelligible, selfish and nasty. If you want to be an actress, fine, I encourage you to work harder but don't start with the spoilt brat routine.

So, what does everyone think of Katie? I know we can't tell how good her acting skills are, since we obviously haven't seen her act yet, but she must have something going for her if she got chosen out of the thousands of people who auditioned for the part. I'm willing to bet she'll do pretty good. This will be her first time with a real acting part, since JKR specifically wanted an "unknown," so I won't hold anything against her if she isn't utterly fantastic, though. 😉

Of course, she doesn't look exactly like I pictured Cho, but hey, she's not too bad. I don't think anyone in the films looks exactly how I pictured them, and it doesn't really bother me that much.

Anyone else have any comments?

Katie doesn't fit the Exact picture I had for Cho, but then again, David isn't even CLOSE to the Remus Lupin I envisioned, and Gary... Sorry, not close either. So again, it'll just have to be how well she does the part.

David and Gary still bug me. Great actors, but no Remus or Sirius.. but that's another thread! 😎

I agree, Katie isn't an exact fit to what I pictured...but I can't really say there is a single Harry Potter actor who has managed to do so. But, eh, what can you do? 🙂

I must say that I was kinda shocked when I saw the picture's for Remus. I didn't really have an image of Cho in my head, so I didn't have anything to be disappointed over.
However if I remember correctly (I have an awful memory), Rupert, Emma, and Dan weren't the character's I had in my head before the film's came out. Now I couldn't imaine the roles without them. I think that after a while, people tend to change their idea's and mold their inner charcters around the actors.
I think it's weird when I see two different actors playing the same role. Like it's going to be weird seeing Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, because I have the image in my head as the other actor (I don't know who it is) playing Willy Wonka.

i don't know, in the book cho is a perfect girl (but the jealousy part). i think she'll do a good job, after all she's THE one. and like "don't hate" said, at first you don't think they fit their parts, but then after watched the movies, you can imagine other ppl play their parts. 😉

Yeh completly agree Jessing, although I think that Cho isn't perfect, and we only see her that way because the books are written from Harry's perspective whilst he has a crush on her.
Everyone knows that when people have a crush, even the other person's flaws are perfect. And you know you do it so don't deny it! XD

HOW OLD IS KATIE? 16? AND HOW OLD IS CHO? 14 OR 15?

Katie herself is 16 i think... and Cho in the book is a year above harry, so she would have to be older than harry.. so i think 15/16!

But i think she's perfect for the part... as a Chinese myself, we should encourage more Chinese people in the film industry as there is not enough of them and also its how harry sees her, so in harry's eye's she is the one, so it doesn't really matter what other people think, as everyone has different tastes! 💃

But i think the character I'm looking forward to seeing is... MAD EYE MOODY... i don't know why... I can just see Brendan Gleeson doing a great job.... 🙂

Why care what she looks like? Emma is too pretty to be Hermione, Tom is too attractive to be Draco, etc., but they all play their parts well. Lets wait and see how she acts. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing her as Cho.

Actually I think Katie is 17, because I read somewhere that she had recently celebrated her birthday. But so what. Actors have an age range which they can play. It's like a couple of years either way of their actual age. All the actors are actually now getting too old for the parts, according to several boards etc. (i.e. rumours/gossip). So really I don't think it matters how old she is. It'd be hard to find a girl who was chinese of British nationality who could act, who was the exact age Cho is meant to be in the book, and who actually turned up for the audition.

i think everyone should stop being so judgemental. =) we haven`t even seen her act. we`ve only saw three tabloid pictures, very candid ones that really aren`t from the best angle. everyone is getting all riled up over a girl we haven`t seen on the big screen yet. it`s not like she`s terribly ugly.

i admit, though, that i was a tad disappointed. i was imagining a girl that`s as pretty as kristin kreuk or something. 😛

in my opinion, the casting directors have done a pretty good job. i`m sure they have their reasons for casting katie, even if she isn`t as gorgeous as kristin kreuk. but she certainly isn`t as ugly as everyone says she is.

oh and those katie hate listing things, and i hate katie sites. ridiculous! absolutely ridiculous! -_-; hating on someone we don`t know. for shame!

actually london is really cosmopolitan half of londons residents are non white and many other cities are pretty mixed too, so there was plenty of people to choose from

There are lots of asian girls to choose from! So thats bolloks about them choosing her because shes the only one to fit the role.
