There is a clip of her talking, can anyone speak Mandarin? I can speak Cantonese, and shes says in Chiense, Im eating, and it sounded like it had a huge Scottish accent, but I dont know because I speak very little Mandarin, and Im curious about whether or not she can speak CHinese. =)

Hi. I'm new here. I wanted to audition for the role of Cho Chang but couldn't since I live in the US; although I am pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten it anyways. I think Katie Leung is attractive but unfit for this role (judging based appearance). And I am not jealous, which seems to be the popular accusation towards anyone who has the audacity to make any negative comments about her (esp. from her defenders on this forum who, I've noticed, "mysteriously" began to show up around the time that article about her being abused online did and not a moment earlier to act so nobly and righteously). As I was saying, I am not jealous. Rather, I am disappointed in the casting people's decision because I think they had better options from amongst the 4000+ girls who audition, Georgina_A included.
Has anyone seen the pictures of Katie standing next to Daniel at the premiere? She's taller than him! I know she's wearing high heels but still, in my opinion, she should be at least a few inches shorter than him. That would have been more like the books. But then again, Katie doesn't really follow the books' description of Cho does she?
$1400 for that dress??!!! Gosh I hope they paid her well. To be honest, I don't think it should be worth that much. But I must admit, from my experience, it takes a lot to look skinny in a dress of that cut. Her hair is nice, but I don't think it suits Chinese people as it makes their faces look even bigger (before anyone accuses me of being racist, I'm Chinese). Her make-up is also nice, but I don't think it goes with her outfit very well. It has dark, smokey appeal whereas the dress is more light.
Because she doesnt have freckles and she isnt short, like what the CHo in the book is. And in their opinion, in most pics, she isnt extremly pretty. Plus they provided positive comments too. Just because they ahd some negative, hoenst opinions, doesnt mean that they hate her. Its an open forum, people can state their views, whether or not they are positive.

Anyways, I dont agree with the they could have picked a better person, because you havent seeen her in the movie, acting can cahgne everything. And some people look good on camera.
I think that some things coul dhave made her stand out
The acting, while being an unknown can be a pleasant surprise to the audiance (and many here were impressed by the acting)
She said that it helped that she was one of the few Scottish girls there
She has long hair
One of the auditioners said that she laughed a lot, so that could have been cute and appealing
