Well...here we have it everyone, Arnold Schwarzenegger has won his re-election which unfortunately just about confirms beyond the shadow of a doubt that there will be no Arnie in Terminator 4.

"The latest on “Terminator 4” is that they’re still working on the script – rewrites apparently – and all I know is that they’re chasing another ‘big name’ star to replace Arnold."

*Ignores what he just read* ❌

We don't need some guy who thinks he's an "action star" to replace Arnie, we just want the war of the machines!

Amen to that.

Don't know who replpaces Arnold. I hope it's someone good.

An interesting article, which I found out on the good site that is The Terminator Files; 'T4: A sequel prequel?!'

They talk about IGN.com and a recent feature they had called 'Back to Basics... What blockbuster movie franchises need a reboot?'

IGN named the Terminator films as a possible reboot franchise, what with the mess it seems to be in now after (is it really bad?) Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Here is what they say;

'The Terminator'

"Lowdown: Prior to James Cameron's release of The Terminator in 1984, the filmmaker's only previous credit as a director was 'Piranha: Part Two — The Spawning'. So who could have expected the marvels of this sci-fi actioner: the killer cyborgs, the time-traveling hero, the romance — not to mention the cheese of the '80s. Ditto for the 1991 sequel, T2: Judgment Day, which amped up all of the above (less the feathered hair) with Cameron's increasingly refined technically savvy. But what a waste the long-awaited Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines was; with Cameron out of the picture, the result was nothing but a rehash of the earlier films — only with none of the amazement of those modern classics.

"Series Status: A Terminator 4 is said to be in the works, while a pilot for a potential Fox TV show called The Sarah Connor Chronicles is being produced with Lena Headey (300) in the lead role and Thomas Dekker (Heroes) playing the young John Connor. The show sounds interesting — it returns to the era after T2, when Connor was a 15-year-old kid, rather than a wimpy 28-year-old Nick Stahl. But fears of a "terminator of the week" premise have fans raising their collective cyborg eyebrow.

"How to Reboot: With series star Arnold Schwarzenegger firmly entrenched in the world of politics now, it seems unlikely that he would ever return to the film series anyway, so why not restart the entire franchise? Picture this: The film opens in the war-ravaged aftermath of the supercomputer Skynet's nuclear attack. Kyle Reese, a low-level foot soldier in the human resistance against machines, is summoned by the legendary warrior John Connor. He must travel back in time on a super-secret mission, but a variety of Terminator models are likely to follow him into the past — T-800s, T-1000s and T-Xs. You can see the poster now: Only in the past will Kyle Reese discover … his destiny. Of course, Reese is the great, if sorta forgotten, character from the first film played by Michael Biehn, but wouldn't it be awesome if he finally got to run the franchise his way and not have to rely on little old Sarah — or worse, die?"

Arnold Schwarzenegger is to return as The Terminator. Well, briefly anyway.

Though he’s supposed to be captaining the state, its been reported that the Oak will indeed make a cameo appearance in the forthcoming “Terminator 4”. Previous reports suggested he wouldn’t be involved at all (The way I see it, if he can make time to do a cameo in a frickin’ Tom Arnold movie – “The Kid & 1” – he can make time to do a couple of days on a film reprising his most iconic role).

“I think it's in his contract [to make an appearance]”, MGM CEO Harry Sloan told The Boston Herald, confirming that it’ll probably only be a “cameo”.

“The Terminator” series is set for a major rehaul with a new production company signing on to make the next batch of movies. In short, what this means is that the character of John Connor (no doubt set to be played a different actor; the third person to play that part, excluding the guy that briefly played older John) will be present in the next three films, but Schwarzenegger’s iconic cyborg character will most likely be missing.

This is bound to upset the stick-in-the-mud fans of the Schwarzenegger series – in particular, AB King – but without the Governator front and centre in the next chapter (he’s too damn busy), it’s ostensibly the only way to go. And, the trend to ‘reboot’ is in right now, after all.

The Halcyon Company announced today the acquisition of all the “Terminator” franchise rights. These rights include the right to produce any future “Terminator” films, as well as all future merchandising and licensing rights, certain future revenues derived from “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”, as well as certain rights in the television project “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and the sole right to produce all future “Terminator” projects in any new or existing media.

The Halcyon Company is a recently formed, privately financed, film development, production and financing company, headed by co-CEOs Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek. "The Terminator franchise represents by far the most popular and successful franchise not owned by a major studio," said Mr. Kubicek. "While we have several other projects in the works, we see this global franchise as a cornerstone of Halcyon's future business plans."

“Terminator 4” will be based on a script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris and is envisioned to be the first film in a new Terminator trilogy. Halcyon plans to immediately begin pre-production on the new film.

While as yet no distribution agreement has been set, Halcyon anticipates that T4 will be ready for release in the first half of 2009, if not earlier.

Moritz Borman, the Executive Producer of “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” as well as the then-CEO of Intermedia Films (the co-production financial partner for T3), is slated to produce the new “Terminator 4” film as well as being an integral member of the branding and licensing team. Kubicek and Anderson will co-produce.

Moritz Borman stated, "With T3, we included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the main narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of inter-related stories covering the future adventures of John Connor and the Terminators. This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base, which was both revitalized and expanded with the global success of T3."

Anderson said, "We also plan to maximize the potential of the Terminator franchise by entering into strategic relationships with world class merchandising and licensing partners. By quickly pursuing and finalizing these new opportunities, we are confident that all of these ventures can be completed in time to fully maximize their value by coinciding with the first of the new Terminator's release."

I would think the Gonver of CA would be way too busy to countune his movie career. But you maybe right!jm

"Arnold Schwarzenenger will be seen in the next Terminator movie, after all! But don’t do back flips just yet, fans…

Representatives for Halcyon, the studio that recently acquired the rights to the Terminator franchise, tell EW the Austrian Oak has granted the company permission to use his likeness in the film.

“We’ll be using computer altered stock images of Arnold. That way we can span his entire career, from the frightening 80’s era Terminator to the ice cool T2 version”, says Halycon’s Derek Anderson.

Annabelle Gross, Schwarzenegger ’s rep, hinted further involvement in the series. “He’s signed on as Executive Producer for all three pictures, and we are in talks for further appearance licenseing”.

It’s believed that Schwarzenegger may be considering an offer from the studio to provide his facial features in the form of a cast."

"Last week Oak-fan TheArnoldFan.com's 'AB King' sent in a report stating that Arnold Schwarzenegger will executive produce AND appear in the next "Terminator" movie. The news was apparently straight from EW magazine, quoting a spokeswoman named 'Annabelle Gross'.

Sorry fans, but this just wasn't true. Haylcon contacted us today to let us know that AB's scoop was fabricated. Whoever passed it onto him, was pulling his leg.

There's just no such person as Annabelle Gross, and nobody from the company spoke to EW about the film nor has any kind of arrangement been made with Schwarzenegger to appear in the film.

You can check your sources out as much as you like, but when they're old-time reliable tipsters and online writers themselves, it's always a surprise to discover what you've - and the other sites emailed that item - been sent isn't correct.

Sounds like the news item was fluffed by some overactive ****in' fanboy hoping Schwarzenegger will appear in the film. Get over it. New franchise. Possibly New Stars.

What we know so far is that Halycon are doing three new "Terminator" movies. There has been no director or cast announcements. "

Do ya smell it???

I think the guy they get to replace Arnold is going to be Dwayne Johnson, better known as the Rock. I mean it would make sense, I think I saw he and Arnold in something together (I think Arnold was making a cameo, and hasn't Arnold proclaimed this guy as his protege already?

I have no idea who the new Terminator is. I hope its someone good.

My love for the terminator has been rekindled thanks to the sarah connor chronicles. However Im not looking forward to Terminator 4 if the following info true;

I have never heard Arnold mention this in any interviews.

However in The Rundown (aka Welcome to the Jungle) as The Rock is walking into a club, he walks past Arnold, who is on his way out. As they pass each other Arnold says to The Rock "Have fun", which sort of implies that he is handing on the "baton" to The Rock as being the new movie tough guy.

KMC Forum user Ahnold had this in his signature a while ago. I'd prefer to see The Rock as more of a good guy, and not a Terminator.

Please can you specify what part of the info in the article is not making you look forward to a new Terminator movie?

Is it the fact that there will be no Arnold, Nick or Claire in it? Or that the writers of T3 are writing the script for the new movie? Or the birth of a new hero? Or all of it?

I personally do not like the idea of introducing a new hero to the mix. It's always been about John and should always be about John, in my opinion. But hey ho.

U

I read that John is the center of the story, but that the new character will be the subplot (?). The new character is will be involved in some kind of twist in the movie.

well i think thats true but how can you make a terminator movie without arnie ? No arnie no T movie
