James scratched his head, staring after her. "Um...Was that the, er, right reaction?" He asked Lily nervously. "What'd i say!?"

There was yelling from an angry voice and then pleading that sounds a lot like Lydia.

Lydia tried to wiggle free. "Please, let me go." her voice was desperate.

"why should I! You trifling cold-blooded traitor!" came the angry sixth years' voice as he slammed her into the wall again.

James turned, hearing the voices. He instantly jumped over the chair and ran through the entrance, wand ready in his hand. He finally found them, Lydia slammed against the wall and the other looking quite menacing.

"Let her go!" He yelled, and oh did he want to curse him right then.

The sixth year smirks punching Lydia once in the stomach before dropping her. She slumpsto the floor.

The sixth years smirked. "So, you should be hurt. She cheated on Lupin with Snape of all people."

James wouldn't stand for this. He carefully pointed his wand at the 6th year and sent a curse at him, one that left him pucking slugs. James then walked up to him and punched him like a muggle might, but also obtained a bruise, for the boy swung back, getting him in the cheek. But after that, he couldn't stand the puking and quickly sprinted off towards the nurses.

James quickly knelt down by Lydia, his cheek on the very bottom of his worry list. "Are you ok!?"

Lydia winced as she tried to sit up. "Uh, I think so." she lied.

James stared at her. "No, I dont really think you are." He replied.

Lydia groaned. "It's okay." she says standing. she was pretty sure she bruised her spine or something.

James frowned at her. "Stop lying." He said slightly harshly; but he didnt want Lydia to suffer.

Lydia nods. "You're right. I'm not but if I go in now, the nurse will know that that guy and I were 'disagreeing'."

James agreed. "Well, then lets go back to the commonroom so you can lie down..." He though a moment.

"Are you able to walk?"

Lydia doubted it, but tried. Takingg one step she fell to the floor as pain encased her body. Tears came to her eyes.

James swore under his breath. Without giving Lydia a warning, he picked her up bridal stlye and set off quickly towards GCR. He couldn't help but laugh. "I cant wait to see Evan's face," He muttered as he walked in the common room.

Lydia blushed. "You should have just left me. I don't want to make you two angry at each other." she whispered.

Lily was playing a game of exploding snap with Sirius when she heard the portait hole open. She stood up suddenly and turned around to see James. Running to greet him she stopped halfway looking at the pale look of Lydia's face. Fighting back some jealously she managed to gasp, "Is she ok?" None of the jealousy got into her voice.

Lydia sighed. "I. . .I can't walk. He was just helping me back here so I wouldn't get in trouble." she explained. "Don't be upset, Evans." she pleaded still scared the other girl would thrash James.

"Its ok. James is helping you so nothing's going on. Lets see James prop her on some pillows while I get Madam Pomfrey. Take it easy until I return," said Lily.

Lydia started to stop hurt but couldn't as pain shot through her back. she bit back a scream.

Lupin was walking and doing his homework at the same time as he looked to the right to see Lydia he quickly started run to her and helped her up "Jesus Lydia what happened to you?"

Lydia winced. "I'm not sure. I think I bruise my spine or something." she said not really sure if she should tell him about getting the snot beat out of her.
