The writers could slip two villains in at any time like Batman. There are about six main choices they could decide on.
Rami said they had a villain (so S3 will probably have just one baddie) that had a good fan-base, will please the crowds, will look good (I'm assuming it's going to be something with a lot of CG), and most importantly will present some obstacle to prevent Peter from "growing". The obvious choices right now are Venom, The Lizard, and Harry as green/hobgoblin.
I reeeeaaaaally hope they don't make Harry the Hobgoblin 'cause his father's legacy was too important to alter it like that (so it's supposed to go, but who cares about that?!). I was hoping Harry could be slowly growing in power throughout S3 and in S4 come in with a bang so there could be that great tension between him and Peter all through it.
Venom pleases the public, is a fantastic visual, and is very capable of stopping Spidey from progressing. It all lies in the story of how he's created. So far, I believe Tobey Maguire only originally signed on for 3 movies, but they could also do a Batman thing here and have a different person play that character. Someone had a valid point somewhere that it'd be better if they'd make the villain stronger and stronger with each movie.
This leaves a good chance for the Lizard. The Lizard is an extremely likely choice because he's also a fantastic visual and is capable of stopping Peter from progressing. There isn't much to prevent him from being the villain. His story isn't difficult or lengthy.
I, myself, hope for Venom *crosses fingers* but it's depressingly likely they'll do the Lizard.
Tobey Maguire could always sign on for more movies. I don't think the Spider-man thing will ever loose its momentum... Even if the mass public loses interest, there are so many Spidey fans alone that are just too dedicated to miss anything.
Sad part is that I know they ain't gonna do Carnage ever... It hurts real bad inside... *brood* Though my thoughts are that Kevin Bacon would be neat for that...
i kinda doubt if this is the last movie, they'll leave out venom. they wouldnt make a series of spiderman movies w/out the most popular villain of the comic, venom. i would like the lizard for this one as well. i doubt he'll get his labcoat though, considering he wasn't wearing a white labcoat in his cameo in the last film
excelent observation fruits, really the main audicience who doesnt kow connor wouldnt link the characters to his appearence in last movie.
i vote for sandman, but lizard would be cool,and if the thing is aobut stronger, venom will not show up cos they do have lizard, and how does any of those stop peter to progressing,?? the only one who does that is black cat interfering on peter loves life,
this will be a trilogy the lady producer of sony said, and she also said that if new spiderman come out they will be individuals and not related to the plots of the trilogy , they would only carry on with the spiderman character and his enemies ( or troubles i dont remember exactly)
that sucks. i like this idea: black cat is the "opening" villain, as in she's the villain at the beginning of the movie. but Peter befriends her and they become kind of close. then we go to curt conners experimenting and turns himself into the lizard, and harry finds out. he somehow bribes dr. conners into turning himself into the lizard again and killing spiderman. then we have a big battle between spiderman and the lizard and black cat comes but the lizard totally kills her. then harry realizes he doesn't want to kill Peter and all thsi stuff, so he uses his fathers equipment to go try and break up the battle and save peter's life. so he kills the lizard by somehow sacrificing his own life. then peter and MJ get married or something. great end to the trilogy if ya ask me

I always liked him in the lab coat. I thought it was kinda an edge because it reminds spidey that he is fighting his friend. Have you guys ever read the torment arc? Now that was a classic one. 🙂
but then if u make more movies, and they can't connect with the first 3, how will that work?? youll need toby macguire to continue the story and make it a good movie. i mean, they COULD do it w/out him and the rest of the regular cast, but it would suck. i think if they're gonna end it at 3, that's the way to go. kill off the villain, the girl, and the friend. you can keep MJ if u want, i dont care. but if thye're gonna keep going, then just kill off lizard for now. they could do some interesting stuff with harry in future movies

i doubt hell wear the famous white labcoat is what i meant, he might wear that brown trenchcoat thingy he was wearing in the 2nd one

Oh okay well that least he gets to wear a trenchcoat. I would hate to see a naked lizard running around or something lame like him in boxers. that would suck. ugh

I doubt he would be wearing the same trenchcoat he was wearing in the last film. You brought up an interesting thought, but a brown trenchcoat would look TOO much like the trenchcoat that Octavius wore in the last film. I think Sam Raimi would be aware of such a strong physical similarity.
