train with a wooden sword or whatever, but he should have done better than get kicked around like a big pantsy, considering he did got training

yes, but that is unlikely to be that useful. If he's never actually been in real combat, the panic rush would completely disorient him. Also, do you think his trainers were trying to kill him? They may have got into a bit of trouble if they actually did! 😂 I would have thought they would let him win - there are few true weapons trainers who will half-kill you in training so you can survive in a real fight

That' s not an excuse. Hector fought his first battle once too and he survived and fought many battles afterwards. Paris will have got the same training as his elder brother. He should have known better.

But that's the point- Paris simply isn't a warrior.

I saw a bit of Legolas coming out of Orli(Paris) As he used his bow. For some odd reason when

Spoiler:
Achilles and Hecter were fighting i didnt really expect Hecter to die..
dont know why though.hmm..
Oh well, its still one of the most brilliant movies ever.

I havent seen it yet, but as i understand, from what Kes was saying, they changed some vital things in the story 😬 Whats the point in telling the story of Troy if you're gonna change the original story of it. Im kinda put off now...

That's ridiculous, Lil. The 'original' story has been changed a dozen times. The Iliad is NOT the original story and is only a smaller part of the total story anywah.

Why the hell shouldn't they change it to make it fit a film?

From what I understand, they had to change it to make it a plausable movie.

Absolutely. We all know a film of a book is not the book, it is a film and things are changed. This is doubly true of a film of a vague myth like Troy!

Yeah, I never read the story, but my GF was telling me about it. Had they not changed it, there would have been cheesy looking gods flying around arguing about who is the prettiest. Major cheese

Oh please.

Illiad is known story! It may not have been correct historcly, but its a known story, as written (or spoken) by Homer.

And how exactly changing it this much can fit the film? The story of Illiad or Trojan war has been told many times before and it susally folowed Homer's pattern.

There have been historic interpretation of Troy 👆 There could have it with out the gods. Achilles's mom was a goddess. 👆

Time lil. The movie is already 2h40m.

they did a fine job and they are allowed to change it they kept some mention of gods and showed some of their importance but didnt foccus on it.. because they didnt want to... they gave homer some credit and said loosely based on the illiad mainly because parts of the movie happend in it as well they never tried to recreate a story already told.. they made it their own and a story like the trojan war.. your allowed to do that

regardless of whether or not it was sililar to the book, I thought it was a really good movie, and is worth going to see.

BTW, there is no proof that the film was not historically accurate. If the original story was written for entertainment (and even if it wasn't), then the original story as told by homer was not necesserally accurate, so that should not be taken as historical fact. After all, Homer talks about all sorts of different gods, and that is not historically accurate.

they said "based on" not "loosly based on"

Nah, thats not what im talking about. You can change bits here and there, thats fine, if it has to be done, it has to be done i suppose.

Spoiler:
You say Paris didnt die, and he should have 😬 Hector dies, Ajax dies, almost all of them die, and changing that kind of thing to make movie aplaudable is just rediculous.
Either tell it properly or dont tell it at all.

Actually its "inspired by"

So what if the Iliad is a known story? Like I say, if you wanted it to be strictly the Iliad, it would have gone from Agamemmnon and Achilles arguing, to Hector's funeral, and that is IT! That would be all of it. No start, no end. No background. No resolution. THAT is the Iliad.

I am beginning to tire of people saying it should be more like the Iliad when they clearly haven't even read it to know what it is not...

Paris and Ajaz do NOT die in the Iliad.

This is EXACTLY what I am talking about. You are talking from a position of ignorance, Lil.

how can you tell something properly or not tell it at all when there is no proven fact about it? maybe this is how wolfgang truely believes it went down.. he is telling it how he wanted to
