I have several questions. ^^

1) When I create a new photoshop umm image? or w/e you call it when u go to new hehe. What size do I make it for my sig? Atm the one im playing around with is 425/121 pixels. It looks similar in size to other sigs (I guessed) and those dimensions line up with the grid. Is that good?

2) WTH is with the everytime I do something it creates its own layer thing? I wanna see everything i've done at the same time. Not all split up into 50 million layers.

3) When I try to erase it says it has to rasterize which seems to delete everything on that layer instantly? How the heck do I erase just the bits i want with the little erase tool?

Probably stupid questions cause I know jack about photoshop and it appears to be a never ending stream of complication. /sigh

Max size for KMC is 450x150, so your sizes are fine.

Trust me, having everything on a new layer is GOOD. It's much much easier to work with.

Ummm....are you playing with custom shapes and such? I've never had that come up before.

1) The Largest size allowed here is 450x150 Pixels

2) 🤨

3) Rastersize makes a Text (Etc.) Non editable, like an Image.

Hmmm... well sigs can be up to 450/150 pixs or anything smaller than that is fine I guess...

As for the layers, do you mean in the layers pallet or in your work window?

And the erasing thing... are you sure you are working on the right layer in the pallet box?

I know how to use photoshop but I am illiterate when it comes to the names for things in it... sorry if they're wrong or hard to understand.

And yes, photoshop is one of the most complicated things on the planet... just takes a lot of time getting used to!

Be one with the photoshop! LOL!

No, it's not believe me. You just need to practice and find some good tutorials..

believe it or not photoshop is one of the easier programs to learn. there is so much, you can do with photoshop. i started out playing with it a bit to recognise some of the features, then i did some tutorials. its alot easier the trying to render images in 3D then animating them.

Most tutorials I find give me migraines... I actually work better stumbling into things... but I agree if you find the right ones they do help.

And no matter what you say... it is complicated! Especially if you've had no experience in anything like it before... can drive you mad!

It's extremely hard to explain since i have no idea how to use the vast majority of this stuff. What's even more frustrating is I see something that looks familiar like laso and eraser and wham they don't work at all for some crazy reason.

ATM I am making shapes. Every time I make a shape it makes them in a new layer. Everytime it does this I can't decide if I like the look i'm creating cause I can't see everything at the same time. Also I can't erase anything. When i click the eraser and then click anywhere on the image it says must rasterize and then the shapes are deleted completely.

I'm trying to create 2 half circles on both sides left and right of the image atm. Which I did just fine. Then I wanted to create two horizontal lines at the top and bottom 1 grid level up and down from the top and bottom of the image. I did that just fine. But the 2 horizontal lines and the 2 half circles are on different layers. I can't see them at the same time. Also I want to erase the parts of the half circles that are above and below the first grid that the lines are now going threw. I can't erase anything from half circles at all. It says I have to rasterize and then they are completely deleted and the image is blank.

you need to click the layer of the image is on the edit them
if you want them all as one layer you can merge them by going to layers>merge layers

Well I made a new one at 450x150 but the grid doesn't fit it. I suck without a grid so I can make my lines the same distance apart etc. Is there a way to make the grid match 450x150?

use the ruler option

Gimp is a **ck load harder to master. 😉

Rock n Roll the ruler kicks and the merge did the trick. Tys ^^

np
but learn to use the layers
you'll find they're very useful too when you know how to use them.

How do I grab just what I want out of a image I load? Like if I load a image of a guy + background. How do I select just the guy?

I want just protoman out of this picture. I could erase everything in the picture except him but how would I select just him? If I use the selector tool I get him and a box of white background around him...
Edit: Make that black background... When I loaded it the background changed to black. Where as it is really white...

Another question... Is there a way to like reconstruct Protoman in this picture? Cause some of him is covered up. Namely some of his feet...

i think that a transparent gif. I think, in this case all you need to do is, first of change it form indexed to RGB by going to image>mode>RGB then use the move tool and drag it to a new templete.

yeah the is a way. but it may be a bit difficult for beginners.
my suggestion is first of all get the lasso tool change it either to a polygonal or magnetic lasso tool (right click on the lasso tool, its alot easier to use then just the plain lasso tool) now click around the areas of protoman. after you finish selected the areas you want, drag him onto a new templete. Create a new layer and roughly outline where the missing bits of him should be, use the stamp tool, press alt and left click a section of the image you want to copy, and then start brushing over it with the the stamp normal, this shoul reproce the colours of that section into the image.

Well the switching to RBG and using move tool didn't work. It still grabbed him and his whole background. The magnetic laso works perfect though. So it's all good. I haven't gotten to the second pic yet to try the stamp thing. ^^

i thought it was a transparent gif... my bad 😐
