Am I it.
I know what you are: a complete and utter
idiot
Koto, when you write, how do you develop your charactors? Do you think a lot about how you personally would react to the situations, and then write Naomi based on that? Do you interveiw friends who've been through situations similar to your charactor? How do you handle writing a female charactor? And what was your original inspiration for her- someone you know? (obviously I'm speaking about her personality, not her history!)

Woah, thems a lot of questions. Since they're more about the process though, I'll answer em.
First- I look at character development like a staircase, each step representing a different interaction or action between character or environment. With each interaction/action, the character will take something away from that experience, and take a step up the staircase. The experiences continue to compound the more the character has, thus developing his or her personality based upon those experiences.
Second- Most of the time, I simply think of how the character if he or she were a real person would react to the situation, not how I personally would react. This sort of goes along with the whole development thing. Depending on how far a character is up on the development staircase, he or she will react differently to a given situation. Like, maybe at the beginning of the story, a character might not jump from one roof to the other, but then later, because they have experienced all this other stuff, they would because they have changed through their experiences.
Third- Nope. I pull characters out of my head, and create a background and personality profile for them, then work off of that. I will occasionally base characters off of people I know, but I won't like go out and talk to people and take notes and crap like that. I'll leave that to professional writers. I'm just a dude who writes fanfic.
Forth- Writing female characters is easy, that is, once you understand how women act. Seriously, they're not that different from men when it comes to how they act, only they tend to use a little more common sense, and a little less testosterone-induced decision making.
Fifth- Original inspiration for Naomi was my ex-girlfriend.
