The Suggestion Thread

Surely, considering that a) News about "Indy IV" is still very thin on the ground, b) the movie is still nearly a year away, and c) the forum is very recent (and therefore might not yet have gained widespread awareness here at the KMC), just how many posts *should* the Indy forum be seeing if it is to be deemed a success?

Also, with regards to losing the "Terminator" forum completely - why is this necessary, just because activity there has slowed of late? The forum has a very long history here at the KMC, and with both a "Terminator" TV Show and another movie on the way within the foreseeable, why is dumping it being considered?

More than a small impact would be 1000 posts in a week IMO. I've seen individual threads gain more than 500 posts in one day in other forums.

If the interest were there for the Terminator forum then it would surely stay open. Post away, get your friends to post. If it's just sitting there collecting dust even though you say there is more brewing for the series, why waste the space?

It's technically not actually wasting any space.

Shush you! durfist Ms. Can't Go To LA To A Star Wars Convention To See LanceWindu.

Thanx, Raz, for giving the Transformers sub-forum a trial run. 👆

...and thank you in advance for deleting it once it flops and nobody posts there 😛

For about half an hour.

My point exactly - thank you Lana 😛 ! I suppose that all I can do is contribute more to the "Terminator" forum and hope for the best ...

And just out of interest, §P0oONY, are you against *all* the movie franchise forums here at the KMC? What about the larger ones, like the James Bond or "LOTR" forums? Whilst I respect your opinion on this matter, surely it's an inevitable fact that many of these forums will experience a lull in the gap between new movies in those franchises coming out?

Why bother? They havent confirmed a 4th Terminator, and tv show talk can go in the tv forum..

Actually, a fourth movie *has* been confirmed (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438488). And why discuss the TV show in the TV forum when there is already a perfectly good "Terminator" forum in which to do so 😛 ?

1. Favorite Smilies - Click Here To Understand

2. Be able to search the Custom Smilies by user who uploaded. The page itself states "All uploads are logged and linked to usernames.", so the basis for search is already there,

3. Dump the History forum, it gets very few posts, any history talk could be taken back to the GDF considering how few and far between the threads would be.

4. Lose the LOST forum, almost every new post is only in the stickied thread "L O S T, throw every other thread into that, move it to the proper TV forum.

5. Comic Book 'Versus' and Comic Book 'Respect' forums should be made sub-forums of the Comic Book Movies forum. Save space on the index page.

6. Remove the Terminator forum completely. Check how many posts it has and when the latest posts have been. It is a ghost town over there.

7. Foreign Cinema was a failure from the beginning. Move the threads to Movie Discussions and call it a day.

8. Get rid of the Matrix forum, it was big back in the day, but it hasn't even had a single post in over a week. When it does get new posts it is maybe one or two, then another week before another post. When I see a thread with the latest post being in January only 11 threads down something tells me the forum is dead. [/B]

I'm going to be doing a review of all the forums soon. Creating new ones, dumping old ones.

Will certainly look into doing something about the smilies mess.

😕 Hmmm ... why do I get the horrible feeling that the "Terminator" forum will probably be the first in the firing line; I sincerely hope not! That forum's been here for years now! All I can do is hope to post enough messages there before Raz' "review" that he will be convinced that it should stay!

Gasp! Well I say never, Sir - NEVER 😛 !!!

Seriously, though, whilst I respect people's differing opinions on the controversial topic of forum closure, the "Terminator" forum has been one of my personal favourites on here for many years now. Whilst I realise that I haven't been very active myself on there of late, I don't want to see it go without a decent fight 🙂 !

I'm against forums that don't get any traffic. Some movie franchise forums do, like Harry Potter and Star Wars, as they have large fan-bases with devoted fans, everyone's seen the terminator films, they're not life changing, not worth talking about on a regular basis, not enough to warrant a forum of it's own. It just seems pointless to keep a forum without traffic when you could put one in which would get more, even a forum on The Godfather would get more traffic than it.

Even an Office forum would fair better then a Terminator forum...

Very true, I'd post in it! I'm an avid fan of both the UK and US versions!
