Number one, only Raz can actually implement changes. So we don't need to comment or not because it doesn't matter.

Number two, captcha is not a perfect solution. And it certainly doesn't stop spammers that are actual people.

Number three, you really need to change your attitude, Walshy. You are skating just a hairline from a permanent ban.

seeing as its a suggestions thread and all we want to try and do is make a better forum and environment for its users, stop things like spammers and sock/trolls, i think it does matter, you could of commented and said its only raz that could implement such things, maybe you should suggest to raz that mods get more power with things like that, i mean whats the point of trying to improve the forum when only one guy can do it and that guy never comes online? also if captcha isn't perfect, whats wrong with it? is there anything more effective? trying to find a solution to a problem and you say 'theres nothing we can do and this won't work so lets leave it, theres no point in trying', you could at least add some advice or something if you have any.

all you seem to do is detest my suggestions and look for any excuse to get me banned, i mean a permanent ban because you don't like my attitude? why don't you just take the ball away from me and tell me i can't play anymore. it seems unfair, i point out come constructive criticisms and you don't like it so you want me banned. is a bad attitude a bannable offense now? new suggestion: put that in the rules.

It's pretty much common knowledge that only Raz can actually make changes to the forum. He's the one with actual access to the forum's control panel and, more importantly, knows how to code and actually write those sorts of things. It's not a case of simply clicking a button.

Also, as I said, captcha is not perfect because it does not deter actual human spammers, only bot code ones. And human spammers is what we have more often than not.

No one needs to look for an excuse to ban you, btw. Trust me on that one. You break plenty of rules on your own.

new suggestion: have status updates like on facebook that can be viewed from the side of the main page and some menu where you can view the most recently added topics made, i think it would really rejuvenate the forum and style of it. kinda like this:

There is a thing already where you can view threads with recent posts.

I dunno, though, stuff like that's always struck me as looking messy and cluttered.

Not sure how it is with vBulletin but I used to admin an invision powerboard phpbb coded forum and it actually was, for the most part, just clicking a button. No code was needed. You could download features prewritten and implement then in blocks. Even if 1 other global mod was allowed access to banning by email address or IP paddress (both whole and partial) then it'd wipe out huge chunks of spammers in a few easy actions.

It would also mean that you could set up a validating section whereby you had to vet every new member before they were allowed to post.

Initially it takes a bit of time but you end up adding more and more whole and part email and IP's to the ban list which more often than not comes from the same places.

Raz actually custom-codes most of the stuff for the board, I believe.

All bans are automatically IP bans, btw.

You can't say "Just stop socks.".

The kind of people who sock are the kind of people with literally no lives who find ways around any ban put on them. Whirly is proof of this. Obviously, the mods still ban them because that's principle, but you can't say "Just stop them". It's not that easy.

Personally, I never understood the point of Respect forums. If they have one, maybe someone can explain what it is. If there is no great point besides: "This is a thread for everyone to say they like a character.", then is it worth having a Respect forum for everything? Comics have one, Movies do, Games do. Just seems slightly redundant. Then again, like I said, I don't know the actual reason they exist beyond that.

I think having one giant Movie forum is a great move, if it goes ahead. I'd say that should be the case for comics too. I'm sure Digi mentioned it, but I think there should be a Comics forum, Comics Vs, and the two sub forums for the big companies maybe. Instead of Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and The X-Men, just a Marvel and a DC one. Then maybe one for independents.

The respect forums are good because it gives people a database for scans and such when debating or just to check out characters you've never read before. The comics forums get a lot of traffic. It would be too much trying assimilate large comic forums with another genre. Plus you get the inevitable clash of comics posters, movie posters, games posters, anime/manga posters, etc.

PR and I brought up moving all the character threads under individual DC and Marvel threads. We were voted down. I believe it was due to all the threads floating around in the individual character forums as well as the Comic Book forum. I guess there was just a diminishing return on the effort opposed to the outcome.

I was the FIRST to propose a divided DC and Marvel Forum AGES ago!

The last time it was proposed was a couple of years ago, when said forums were far more active than they are now. I definitely think it's a good idea at this point, there's little reason to keep them separated out.

The comics area in 3 forums (Marvel, DC and Other [or a different name], with a couple appropriate sub-forums (Respect, Vs, etc.) would condense things a lot, but not too much to where it would be confusing to posters.

I can't wait for Raz to come online and make some changes, I see lots of good coming from making the forums more streamlined.

Okay I'm going to flack for this but I'm going to go ahead and say it. Roleplayers have been decreasing over the last year or so. Why, Got a good idea why. It's waiting around for approval of ideas. It takes far too long and by the time they do get approved baring in mind, It sometimes is a month or so. People who were for it lose interest and move on for a roleplayer it's too long to wait. If you want active rp forums then I'm going to suggest make it free foam let people go ahead and make threads.
