While I admire your passion, might I ask what evidence you have that suggests that the bible is designed to arouse fear? Specifically, in what ways does it depart from fact? If we ignore the supernatural aspects (pillar of salt? anyone?) then there can't really be any doubt that some of the bible reflects historical events. I'd be interested to know why you are so dismissive of this book. (I already know why I dismiss it- what's your excuse?)

the whole old testament seems to instill fear of god and has mention that we should love and fear gods power......just saying

the new testament was currupted by the church through fear and opression during the dark ages to solidify its power base... crusades witch burning, cultural extinction scary stuff...

The entire bible was canonized by the church. They did not need to corrupt a single page in the Bible because during the dark ages most people were illiterate and the papacy discourage reading the Bible which was not even translated and kept in Latin.

Only New Testament is Christian. Old Testament is Jewish, therefore Bible, which incorporates both is actually shared - so please stop initiating that ''church'' wrote the ''Bible'' because it evidently did not.

When first part of the Bible was written there were no Christians around.

i meant currupted as in they miss led the ppl from jesus teachings....
and also the mistranslation of the adversary and its context to instill fear of the populance.... they also edited the bible.

and i believe anyone who believes and follows jesus teachings are christian.... hence the term judeo christian or followers of christ..

I have not read the Bible, but I really should. I mean together with Old Testament and New Testament.

i save you the trouble first half contradict the second half and the story is non linear and erattic.... the messiah arrives completely missing all the old testament signs regardless of what many will like you to believe... hence the whole jewish religioin vs the christian religion.. oh the world ends thy end..

How is the bible fake. well here are a couple things that make me question.
If the bible was true wouldnt we have found the cross where Jesus died by now?

The names Adam and Eve are american names and America wasnt even created when Adam was born!

Life comes from a sperm and a vagina- NOT from a rib.

If the pope really is a god like the bible says why did he die- he would live forever

We have spaceships and earth diggers but no one has seen heaven or hell yet.

Besides that. The Bible is a complete and total contridiction. Here are a couple contradicting versuses.
Talking about the "Virgin" Mary
ACT 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

MAT 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Sins of the Father
ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

The bible does not say the Pope is like a god, he says it says he is Christ's vicar on Earth and head of the Church. Therefore, his mortality is certainly expected.

Your Acts-Matthew contradiction: There isn't one. God is the Father according to the first verse and indeed...the second.

Sins of the father- the father's have indulged in sins in which their children now indulge- if the child was free of the sins of the father they are not to be "put to death" as it is in this case.

The price for the murder of a human being is death (in pre-Jesus but post-flood world ofcourse). However, in Cain's case- which was before that commandment was given- God judged his sin so great that a very extreme and agonising punishment would be given to him but also a special task which would be to the betterment of Mankind.

Wow, you really believe hard core in the Bible. I respect that. I think that I'll be the bigger person and stop downing on something you feel so strongly about.

But, I would sooner believe that a morbidly obese man dressed in red is going to come down my chimney and give me presents than a man walked on water and heeled the blind. Or that we were just plopped on the earth and we haven't evolved.

I believe hardcore in the Bible?

Maybe I'm just a person who believes that if your going to criticise the Bible you should do it properly with good arguments rooted in the Biblical context rather than lifting one line here and one line there and declaring a contradiction without giving it any thought...in essence I believe in a little scholarly criticism rather than pub-wisdom criticism.

Though you are correct to assume (most academically) a Christian I do not really believe that the Bible is beyond a little dissection- though despite the flaws it does contain I still think it stands up pretty well on its own...if I was a Sola Scriptura Christian though I might find myself in a little trouble, but I'm not.

I have had the Bible stuffed down my throat all my life and after finally reading it, I find it to be nothing more than a fairytale. It does hold SOME historical truth to it.
But lets honestly face it.
Jesus wasn't a magician, and Noah did not put 2 of every animal in a Ark.

Maybe at some point the bible held some truth. But I feel as though (as I stated before) Religion has before nothing more than a huge scam.
