All the Oscars were deserved.
They were all good movies. Yes, there are always a lot of forgotten movies but nothing is perfect and the academy did a good choice...well I am not very happy with Renée Zellweger Oscar...
My applause for Lost in Translation and City of God. Two of my Top movies this year. And I never thought that City of God would be nominated. 🙂
I liked Mystic River a lot too.
And ROTK was the "happy end" of the trilogy. I think They should have given the Oscr to LOTR/FOTR and not to ROTK, but obviously the academy decided to wait. Silly choice but acceptable, if you remember the film was made as once - forgetting edition work - and it is stupid to give two or hree Oscars.
Even the adaptatiion...We know there are soveral modifications from the books - some of then very nasty indeed 😠 but I cannot wish much more.
I am seeing City of God DVD ...Vai Zé Galinha!!! Porra cara!!!
What was everyone's favorite part of the show?
I would have to say the top three most enjoyable parts of the show were:
1)Adrien Brody and his breath freshener. Best thing ever.
2)Owen Wilson and Ben stiller promoting Starsky and Hutch. Haha, that was so hilarious. Can't wait for the film BTW.
3)Billy Crystal as Orlando Bloom in the opening of the show. I didn't like the entire skit, just that part. Haha.

Well it took the most talent from all of the different departments to make a film like LOTR. The most work went into that movie. Plus the end result is one of the greatest films of our time, that will definately be remembered by everyone for years too come. Which is more then you can say about any of the other nominees.
-The Lord of the Rings deserved EVERY Oscar they received, and even people who don't like sci-fi/fantasy movie have to submit to their greatness.
-It wasn't the Return of the King that won Best Picture; that's only what the ballot said. The movie that won the Oscar was The Lord of the Rings. It is one movie, 3 chapters.
-Over 4 years went into the production of the movie(s). Thousands of costumes were sewn, hundreds of weapons were forged, and quite a few detailed sets were designed, from a 1/16th scale to the real thing.
The Lord of the Rings is a movie that will stand the test of time, more than anybody can say about the other movies nominated. Nobody will remember Master and Commander in a few years, only Pirates of the Caribbean. Lost in Translation and Mystic River might have been well done, but in time they will be forgotten. Seabiscuit shouldn't have even been nominated.....
The story is one that transcends all of the special effects, a tale grander than all of the work put into the film could amount to. It is one that lives in our hearts and forever will
omigod, I'm so overdramatic.......
pffff! it's stupid to say that cause they spend a lot of time on making the trilogy of LOTR that they deserve those oscars!
OF COURSE they had to put time and effort in it! what? you wanted an old stop-motion animation for the balrog? or you wanted the battle of helms deep be fought by stickies?
they HAD to take the effort cause everything would fall if it looked retarded, that's no reason what so ever to grant them all those oscars. True, they should have gotten a few, but not that much, cause there were other movies who massively overclassed them in some catogories.

Where else could they possibly take it 😕
Maybe like a spin off of what happened to the characters, but that would suck 😖
Like I said, Hollywood has been known to do some PRETTY STUPID things when $$$$ is involved.
Look for the new LOTR in 2007 featuring Frodo & Co. living in urban Chicago trying to cut it at a gay comedy club with Gandalf as their manager. All the while Sauron is trying to turn their slum into a pimping casino resort with free hookers for all. But the Hobbits fight back with help from the Feds and the new slum zoning law restriction. 😄

True, lots of work, but one movie by it self is nothing compared to same other movies. Story and acting wise. So they should have judged the 3 movies and the nomination the years before shouldnt have happen. They should have said something like: The movie will be judged once its finished. Or the complete movie be showed to the judges. But that would mean we would only be seeing it now lol

Did you see The house of sand and fog (Casa na Bruma)? She did not deserve that Oscar.

care to give a few examples yerss cause I think they deserved every oscar except for best song (the end song of ROTK aint that good) and best movie (unless it would be for LOTR as a whole).
Best picture: deserved
Directing: didn't thought it was good enough to get one, nice pans and all, nothing extra-ordinary at all to give it an oscar
Art direction: it needed to follow the book, so why praise the art?
Costume design: what? you wanted aragorn to run around in jeans? if they wanted to make a movie of it, they should have done as in the book, with less it would look silly. give it an oscar cause it followed the guidelines? nonono!
Film editing: no, just "normal" done to me
Makeup: ie, those elvenears, it's a fantasy movie and they had to make it look like one, without those ears, or how they did that gimli guy (long name and forgot it), again it's it either works or fails miserably and it worked, so no oscar worth
Music (original score): sure; done well
Music (original song): damn, bad song
Sound mixing: like any sci-fi/fantasy movie, the music is important, and I think most think cause it has good music that the entire sound mixing therefor is good
Visual effects: normal, like said, want a stop-motion of the balrog? or Helms Deep done with stickies?
Adapted Screenplay: take Tolkiens book, skip some parts (Tom), change some stuff (replacing stuff like Boromirs death to the first one), add some stuff to let it appeal and done
it's cause it's a hugely successful book that they leach of it succes

don't get me wrong, the lotr saga, I thought was good, just definitly not worth so many oscars

Orcs, the hair looked real, not wig. The actors were a bit transformed. Not sure POTC was better.

Agree.
Music (original score): sure; done wellMusic (original song): damn, bad song
Sound mixing: mixing music, with dialog, and other noises. Good considering half the dialogs were done in a studio.

Well better then the other nominees.

Yeh, specially because its just ROTK not the entire saga!
don't get me wrong, the lotr saga, I thought was good, just definitly not worth so many oscars
it depends on the acting kes, I mean... the extras in helms deep: the elfs get an arrow, shoot it when the black haired dude yells something that's not english ... start hacking and drop dead... stuff like that 😉
have to agree that with the make-up, as said, on some were good, but than again.. orcs had to look real 😉
I have to admit I didn't saw the other nominees for FX, but if they were the best it was not a good FX year 😉
