Maybe I misunderstood but the way I saw it was that the island is the gateway between hell and earth. As long as the island is there hell cant cross over. Jacob is like the gatekeeper. He decides who leaves and who stays. I wonder if how he got that job.

Out of all the castaways, Locke seemed like the best candidate to take over Jacob. He was the one that truly loved being in the island.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well.

Definitely not Hell in the literal sense as Lance said..

There are a whole section of people out there just waiting to apply their religious POV to it to announce it as a "god did it" series, Im sure.

But 'til the bible starts going on about Electromagnetism, quantum physics, time travel and course correction etc I would think it wise to reserve judgement 'til we see how it plays out. LOST rightly portrays religion as something that people believe and are manipulated with, rather than a truth.

I believe both sides are neither "devil" or "angel" but beings who are not above playing roles that suited their individual arguments.

Jacobs is that people can work together.

M.I.B's is that people'll always turn on each other.

They seem like the two brothers in Trading places, ruining peoples lives
for a dollar bet for their own amusement..

Right. So that wasn't the Black Rock at the season finale last year..?
('Cause that nightime storm pitch black wavey shit, looked WAY different from the beautiful daytime scene that MIB and Jacob were in last year.)

Probably another ship before the black rock and no its not hell. At least not for anyone but MiB.

Jacob should have beat the shit out of ben like he did richard.

Yeah that does make me wonder what was going on there....Did he allow himself to get jacked Obiwan style for some strategic advantage..?

Was it to affect MIB/Locke....? (Smokey is stuck as only being able to become Locke since Jacob died.)

I just find it weird. I mean, if it was the black rock and they happened to have a time shift during the storm, then why the hell is MiB's and Jacobs hair and facial hair so different? 😛

"The ship has arrived jacob! lets have a cut and shave!"

or maybe the black rock has been there many times 😉

And again, during the jacob/richard convo, jacob has that god vibe.

"Why should i step in?"

"If not you then he will.."

".... you want a job? Maybe you could step in for me"

Oh I can't believe I forgot.

"He took my body, he took my humanity"

MiB referring to jacob. What the hell is that all about.

Sounds sweet...

Thats more the Hume/Locke IRL differing positions on Freewill/Determinism..
But contemplating that doesnt make him a God. (Unless RL Hume and Locke were) It certainly makes him aware of the rules in order to win the game.
But yeah it was presented as a nod to the religious fans.
I still believe it to be misdirection.

I like the Black Rock differing itterations motiff: It would help explain why there are such inconsistancies with the black rock dates.

Have a look in the lost timeline on lostipedia.

Yeah thats ****ed up.
I think it might be that that little blonde kid with the bleedin arms that MIB saw might be MIB as a kid, if not Jacob or some other kid.

Oh no, I don't believe jacob to be actually god. I mean, sure, I believe in god, but that's not really the direction i want the show to be heading towards. I want something unique. I'm sure you agree. Lost tends to misdirect people constantly.

I'll check it out.

Episode gave plenty of answers. Plenty of questions.

Indeed. Bold to still be posing new ones this late on.

Fair play on the God stance Mairuzu. And yes Im totally with ya on the unique thing. Ironically even men of science must have some faith in team Darlton right now. If anyone can do this: They can.
Best series ever.

I thought it was stupid when kate got attacked by claire and she knew sayid wasn't going to help her yet she doesn't question at all what the hell is going on with these two.

Something may make more sense as it unveils.

I have zero sense of where this is going to end up.

Me neither.

Bit it's great.

It does seem with the white and black shirts we're at least guided in the direction of thinking that jacob is good and MIB is evil. Then again, it may all be misleading... hehehe

any big question that is answered will always bring in new questions. Like when we found out what Smokie was at last we then had like 10 more questions like who is he, how'd he become that, when, why can't he kill Jacob, etc.

I'm starting to think locke is gonna destroy everything in that timeline while the new "Flashsideways" timeline will be the new universe. Giving MiB what he wants for it to not even matter.

Spoiler:
DESMOND!

I finally saw episode 8 and 9

that Richard episode was epic... great ending with Richard and Isabella, kinda like Desmond-Penny in The Constant... best episode so far

I haven't seen The Package yet, I'll be seeing tonight

DESMOND!

😱

finally!

I just watched the latest episode... took my sweet time 😄

not as great as the one before it, but still good, and the flash-sideways was quite interesting

... and while the Desmond twist was nice, I'd be more worried about Sun getting shot in the F-SW...

Spoiler:
a bit foreshadowing 😐
