The new rebo band though...that's one I'd REALLY like to see go. The new Sarlacc looks cool and all, but now what's the explanation of the teeth along the walls of the hole? is that still part of it? does that mean the worm thing is like the second jaw of the xenomorphs in Alien? I do like all the opening up of Bespin, more changes like that are fine with me. Same with the Falcon blasting out of Mos Eisley. Extra visuals help it. Unless its extra visuals to a certain dance number in Jabba's palace... 😄
The problem with the Jabba scene in a new hope is that it takes all the menace out of Jabba the Hut. In the original versions of the films we hear about Jabba and how much of a bastard he is and when we finally see him in ROTJ we aren't disappointed. He's a cruel piece of work and behaves like a gangster would do. The new scene though makes him look, well, a bit soft. I mean, would the Gangster we saw in ROTJ who fed his dancing girl to the Rancor be so accommodating with a man who owes him money. I'd say no, but i reckon he'd be more inclined to kill him AFTER he steps on his tail.
While i doubt we'll ever know, it's my belief that the Greedo scene was shot after Lucas decided to ditch the Jabba scene. If you listen carefully, the Jabba scene just recaps exactly what the Greedo scene does, it's just rehashed a bit.
Oh and before i forget, it's all very well saying that we knew full well there'd be a six disc box set but a mistake of that calibre should never have been in there, ever, and we shouldn't be expected to pony up again 'cos someone at Lucasfilm is colourblind. Personally, I have NO intentions of buying a 6 disc set because it is my firm and unshakable belief that the prequel movies are soul-less dreck and that to put them in the same box as the OT is sacriledge. While i can't comment on ROTS, (and i would love it to be great, i really would), my feelings on TPM and AOTC are quite clear, they are TURD
OK i was wrong about the Jabba/Greedo scene. I've just had a look at the original script and sure enough the Jabba scene follows the Greedo one, word for word. I still think the scene would have been better off on the cutting room floor though.
Now, the Biggs and Luke scene that got cut would have been a much more worthy addition.
Originally posted by ProzakI'm assuming they could actually make a 10 disc set out of the movies, at LEAST. Six movies, possibly a bonus disc for each would make 12, but that might be a lot. But they did it with The Matrix Trilogy, since December 8th brings "The Ultimate Matrix Collection" to homes. Three *well four, if you count the Animatrix* movies, housed by a 10 disc special set. When High Definition comes out, this Ultimate collection, along with this OT disc set will be... well, not useless, but out of date, like VHS is to DVD now. When the six movies are finally released together in a Star Wars Bonanza box set, it will probably be in HD, just as Peter Jackson is going to do with LoTR

im watching the duel on rotj , honestly whats with the pink saber . I look at dookus , mauls saber, and they some how manage to get the color red. And i hate the look of when the 2 sabers cross infront of the emperors face. They go into one another i dont think thats how sabers work. I honestly like the 1997 version better.
It looks to me like they dimmed them in an effort to make Luke's look thinner. In the older version it occasionally looked huge. I still don't know why they didn't re-roto them all so they look consistant. As for them melding, if you slow down the prequels, the white in the center of the beam does appear to meld (because it's just white light, it's not like it would have an edge against other white light). That's always been the way they look, the ROTJ scene is just the most prevalant since its in the middle of the screen for so long.

Prozak, If you had no intention of buying another DVD set, why do you care if he makes one? Just seems a little odd...
Where did i say i cared about a new set? My point was quite simple, why go to the expense of another box set with at least 2 movies i DONT want to see; the box set i have now should have been flawless in the first place. Lucas will release an HD box set, but blue ray is still a fair way off being a viable format for any studio to release a movie on.

Geez no! Those cut scenes were appalling; the acting was dreadful in the bar and any of them would have ruined the pacing of the start of the film.
I agree. They are on the Behind-the-Magic Cd-Rom of teh OT. Only worth watching AS a deleted scene not as part of the film. THe acting is even worse than the Luke-Biggs meeting on Yavin.
I don't get the Greedo scene in ANH.... How could Greedo miss Han??? He had his gun pointed at him all the time, he fires first. Hans just sits there when the laser explodes next to his head... It's weird... Guess this is the way it is but it seems more logical the way it was shot for Han just to kill him off...
