That's because each movie has three different menues. Put one of the DVD's in the player and notice the menu, then try take the DVD out and put it in again (pressing full stop also works), u will see that the manue has changed (perhaps not at the first try)
prozak--my point was, he rushed to get these out because people were pratically begging for them. He always wanted to wait until the prequels were finished to release them all. These were just put out now like an appetizer because dinners gonna be late. I kinda expected them to still be in a "work in progress state" and most of the fans in my area I've talked to were all on the same page about this.
watched em all finally. I think they are still great. Vader's saber in ROTJ only bothers me in a couple of shots, other than I think looks ok, a little pink yes but some parts it looks ok. Luke's I think looks great. I thought Empire was Superb. ANH has some glitches. Watching these makes me feel like watching the prequels again.
mephisto, George Lucas makes a great deal out of how much time he puts into these things. To say that this release is just an appetizer as such is entitled to have flaws in them is plain silly. Oh and incase you hadn't noticed, Lucas is hardly the sort of person to appease the fans, he doesn't give a shit what people want so i seriously doubt that this release was for our benefit. Long story short, they had ample time to iron out EVERY little detail in this boxset and they didnt.
No he did not have ample time. the head of the DVD co. that produced the DVD's and all their menus and such said they had less time to do the OT than they had on each individual prequel dvd. So, yeah, I'd say they were a little rushed. ILM raced to make changes to get them to the restorers, and at the same time they were being restored, the DVD co. was making menu screens from old footage which they had to restore themselves (i.e.--restore what they want to use). This was ALL in and article on starwars.com. So no, they DID NOT have "ample time to iron out EVERY little detail". He has also said he wanted to put them out now because he wasn't sure how much interest there'd be later. But he still wants to do Archival/ultimate (whatever you want to call them) editions when all six were done. That was in the last issue of the Entertainment Weekly with the Star Wars cover. So maybe you should get your motherf'n facts straight before you shoot your uniformed, bitter, hateful mouth off. Aiiight?
No need for bad language mephisto.
I know that one of the reasons to why ILM and the other responsible for the OT DVD's got rushed was that Lucas was so suprised on how good the Indiana Jones triloy turned out to be so he decided to speed up the Star Wars trilogy DVD's. So if he hadn't done that and just stuck to the original realese date they would have managed to get rid of all the flaws.
Meophisto, obviously you are one of these freaks who simply cannot accept any criticism of George Lucas or his films. It's pointless getting into a debate with you really. Indeed, the level of ignorance you seem to show is beyond belief. Do you honestly think what i care starwars.com says in an article? Hello, why should i believe anything that gets put out by a Lucas publicity machine? God, how stupid can you be? The head of the DVD co? Let's get something straight here, there's only one man in control at lucasfilm; he has a beard, a turkey neck and a serious lack of taste when it comes to choosing his shirts.
Oh and if i've known these discs were coming out for months, i'm sure Lucasfilm knew how long they had to get the job done right. Point is, when there are people out there who'd buy any old piece of crap with a star wars logo on it, it's no wonder Lucas doesn't give a toss. If you've got a constructive response mephisto then please, let's hear it, i can't be bothered to read another tirade from a cry baby, even if it is quite amusing to read it. 😆
Still haven't see all. But I did check out the new Boba lines... they're a bit of a disappointment really. I don't mind Temuera's voice but the voice acting's terrible. It's a bit like Croc Dundee's doing the lines with that New Zealand accent.... and overall he sounds like he doesn't give a sh*t.... The old lines were much better. They should have tried to let Temuera read it in the same speed and tone as the old ones. You have the same voice, but Boba doesn't necessarily have to have the exact same way of talking as Jango, does he? Too bad the great ESB gets an unnecessary glitch there...

He points you an article with quotes from the source and you just don't care? And you call him stupid? Your lame conspiracy theories and your implied hatred toward George Lucas are ridiculous. You have done nothing but complain about the discs and bash Lucas at every opportunity. I can guarantee that you were one of the people screaming that Star Wars should be on DVD. Now it it is and you're going to nitpick it to death. I'll tell you what, you put them on ebay for your purchase price, and I'll buy them from you. That way you'll never have to think about these wretched things again.
Ah Oswald, thanks for making my point about insanely defensive Lucas fans. If you'd bothered to read ALL of my posts you'd see i've praised the films transfer quality and sound; it's just a shame that, for a man who supposedly prides himself on perfection, there are glaringly obvious mistakes, NONE MORE SO THAN A GREEN LIGHTSABRE IN THE WRONG PLACE!!.
While you may be eager to shovel money into the Lucas cash pit for any old shite, i'm only prepared to pay for something that fully meets my expectations. You and Mephisto are yet to provide one single valid argument as to why the boxset should have these problems when they've been in production for so long and given the high expectations of everyone wanting it. If you can do this without bursting into a Sissy fit over how i've had a go at George Lucas, i'd really love to read it.
Oh and please don't quote me any crap from starwars.com. If you are going to argue the point, at least make sure your info DOESN'T come from a place tightly affiliated with the product.
I am not an "insanely defensive Lucas fan." The DVDs were obviously rushed to market to take advantage of the interest in Episode III. They haven't been in production for "so long." You paid money for these, I assume. I have offered to reimburse you, since you are so unhappy. As for arguing anything, I could show the exact same article in USA Today and you'd shoot it down simply because you had seen it on starwars.com. And the green saber is, in fact, blue at all times. It is the realistic lighting effect that was used that makes it appear green. Very well done, I would say.
Once again, I am willing to reimburse your money for this "any old shite" personally just to get you to shut up.
I just finished Watching the Set, and I must say, for a novice fan like me, it was pretty damn good. (these are the First SW movies I own.)
The music sounds AWESOME, better than I remember.
Now for my opinions on the Arguments....
The greedo scene, If you look Han kinda moves outta the way and the blast hits where his head was, Personally I like it better this way, shows that Han is not the aggressor.
To me, Although Understandable, I disliked the EP 3 Anikan, Would have mush prefered a lower quality original actor. Even if they had to cut directly from the original or something.
THe lightsaber thing I don't think was a big deal, and I only noticed because it was said here before so I was on the look out for it. and STILL almost missed it.
Oh and I accually LIKE the added CGI stuff. In mos Eisly and ect. Looks cool to me.
Oh and the Rancor looks better than I imagined, I dunno if they changed it or not but still looks good.
And I like the added Jabba scene. Shows truly how deep Han is in Debt and stuff. Makes his position more verifiable and believable.
OK thats my 2 cents
good call oswald. Prozak, we're not defending Lucas, I think they should have caught it too. I always look over all my work before sending it out. But it probably just got too rushed at the end (ILM and Lucasfilm in general is good at pushing things to the last minute). I just find the amount of whinning you do on here pointless and was originally only posting to say it wil get fixed when they're done. Any serious Star Wars fan who followed these DVD's in the media from the press release on saw how rushed they were. I expected it to not be 100% because, again, serious Star Wars fans who do their research always knew an Ultimate Edition would be released that would be fixed up completely. That was how all this started. I think he rushed it, and I think that was a mistake. I think he should have stuck to his guns and not released them until 3 was finished. Like Oswald said, he wanted to re-awaken interest in 3. LIke how X-men had the 1.5 release of the first dvd, and countless other dvd's the last couple years. I'm glad he did. My tapes were getting really worn out. I'm happy with them and can overlook trivial 3 second screen time mistakes like an adult because I did my research and can wait two years for the Ultimate Editions to be released. Now, if at that point it hasn't been fixed, I'll gladly join in your whinning. But until then, I think you're wasting brain cells getting mad about, again, a 3 second mistake. Fans like Oswald and I aren't Lucasfilm groupies or something. We just don't feel a film is ruined because a 3 second shot had an overdose of cyan in the color correction process. but by all means, feel free to call me whatever you want. It doesn't make your whinning any less trivial.
oh, and because I don't care about being the bigger person, you say all I can do is defend him? well, apparently all you can do is bash him since you even bashed his shirts. I'm sure you travel around in Armani? And before you say you don't have Lucas' money either, maybe you should think about Lucas might not give a flying F'k about your opinion on his clothes either. 🙄
tpt---I was so impressed with the rancor scene too! They said they were supposed to fix the matte lines in the 97 editions but they didn't remotely do it. Now it really looks there. Also, watch the old version of the speeder bike scene and then watch the dvd. They fixed up the mattes on there too. I couldn't believe how much better it looks. I always used to say they should just re-do it with cgi, but with the changes they made, they don't have to. they look great.
