Homosexuality: Chosen or Genetic?

Started by Whisper324 pages

Sexual preference IS a generic thing. I like some aspects of sex which my friends hate and vice versa. If someone prefers a member of the same sex then there's no difference to someone else liking having strawberries licked off their abdomen or whatever.

odd way to put it 😛

but yes ✅

That's just a fetish. A product of classical conditioning.

Homosexuality is biologically ingrained. I've already given several evidences for this prospect. Go back 3 or 5 pages for my arguements.

You choose who to date....but not who you get a boner from. Elton John could choose to date Halle Berry, but he couldn't stop his sexual attractions to men.

seriously? 😂 elton john's gay 🤨

Yep. People are confusing choice to have sex with men and to date men with sexual attraction. That's not what homosexuality is. Homosexuality is one's sexual attraction for the same gender. Not one who chooses to date their own gender.

Male homosexuals get sexually excited by male phermones. Choice has nothing to do with this aspect.

thats what I say all the time ✅

Animals aren't "gay"

They may be "bi-sexual" but there aren't animals that have sex with animals of the same sex for the entirety of their life. Animals have natural urges to reproduce.

That was Freud's theory as well (well, that we are all essentialy bi-sexual and that it is the enviroment that pulls us either way)

when I was 10 years old I swear to god I believed that... and I thought that it was simply stereo type that made most men like women...
now I dont think that's right anymore

It could be right, it doesn't explain a few things though. But you could of course just assume that with some the urge for one side is stronger then the other. And that society has made the majority of people straight, out of pure fear for the alternative...

yeah... possible...but unlikely

Wow, you must be a genius of a child if you were at 10 where it took Freud years and years to get to...

To be honest, Im not absolutely familiar with fullness of that Freud's theory - but that is the basic essence. It also depends on the enviroment and the relationship with mother and father - actually now that we're talking aobut it, I might remind myself of Freud's theories 😊

I rally don't believe that enviroment crap... People grow up in all kinds of enviroments and still turn out gay or straight, i doubt it matters at all.

Same - Im not the great believer in such thing - thats not to say I discard all \Freud's ideas - many of them I think make much sense (ego, superego, importance of growing up between 3 and 5..etc)

Article by the Associated Press

New York - Roy and Silo, two chinstrap penguins at the Central Park Zoo in Manhattan, are completely devoted to each other. For nearly six years now, they have been inseparable. They exhibit what in penguin parlance is called "ecstatic behavior": That is, they entwine their necks, they vocalize to each other, they have sex. Silo and Roy are, to anthropomorphize a bit, gay penguins.

When offered female companionship, they have adamantly refused it. And the females aren't interested in them, either.

At one time, the two seemed so desperate to incubate an egg together that they put a rock in their nest and sat on it, keeping it warm in the folds of their abdomens, said their chief keeper, Rob Gramzay. Finally, he gave them a fertile egg that needed care to hatch. Things went perfectly, and a chick, Tango, was born.

For the next 2 1/2 months they raised Tango, keeping her warm and feeding her food from their beaks until she could go out into the world on her own. Gramzay is full of praise. "They did a great job," he said.

Roy and Silo are hardly unusual. Indeed, scientists have found homosexual behavior throughout the animal world.

In 1999, Bruce Bagemihl published "Biological Exuberance: Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity," one of the first books of its kind to provide an overview of scholarly studies of same-sex behavior in animals. Bagemihl said homosexual behavior had been documented in some 450 species.

In his book, Bagemihl describes homosexuality in a broad spectrum of animals. He asserts that while same-sex behavior is sometimes found in captivity, it is actually seen more frequently in studies of animals in the wild.

Freud believed that if boys fell in love with their mother than they would be straight. If they fell in love with their father they would be gay. Same with girls. Absolutely no proof of this though. It's just a theory. Based on speculation and opium hallucinations.

I dont think I really thought about it much.. it was simply that I grew up surrounded by homophobics I hated that...and one day a close friend of mine said his brother was dating another male..
I started thinking about it and I thought that the only ppl who were "right" was the bisexuals 😬
and trust me Im not genious... in fact Im usually stupider than most ppl

ok, then do u "choose" who u love, do u choose who u are attracted to???
attraction is totally genetic... u cant FORCE ureself to be attrated to men or women 😬 it's simply genetic... just like u cant choose whether u like vegetables or not... it's all in ure genes...

You know what.... i'm sry but i'm goin to have to say that you can't choose who you are attracted to because it just happens like love.... my other recent posts were based off of what i've been being lectured everywhere but I think different..... but wheather or not homosexuality is a choice i'd have to say it is.....

Stick with that. You cannot choose who which gender you are attracted to, right? Soooo if homosexuality is the sexual attraction to one's gender than how is it a choice?

you know, i can't answer that question because i don't know it.....
