Well some doctors believe that homosexuality comes through genes. I wonder when they'll be able to develop a cure.

I just noticed that this thread seems to get a bump to the top on an annual basis like clockwork.

Yeah, I wonder when they'll be able to develop a cure for being black, too.

There's a pun in there so cheap that I'm not even going to point it out.

I hope I don't offend anyone, but it has always been my firm belief that a persons sexual desires are determined by their state of mind... If I were to believe in a genetic sexual predisposition I would also have to agree that someone in a vegetative state was capable of functioning without a brain. This is not true. I have a sexual preference for skinny women while my friend likes plump women, this is also a choice, I wasn't born feeling this way but became attracted over time to this type of women. However if I were born in the late 1800s when it was more attractive for men to desire larger women I am almost certain my wife would be voluptuous. The same rule applies to people who are attracted to the same gender IMHO.......

Maybe I read you wrong, but are you saying [human] sexuality is purely based on environmental issues?

I came across this randomly, Any way i believe that it really is what the heart wants. I mean there are somethings that have influnced someone to be homo. I mean but really i think it comes down to the heart and soul. We all dont know if its chosen or genetic,it could be both. But really i believe it's the heart,if that makes any sence.

Soul. That could be part of it....but the soul doesn't exist to a psychologist.

And, to the rabid Christian, they would run around screaming that God didn't create people gay....and if you show them genetic evidence, they say it's quackery, then if you show them peer reviews, they call them quacks, then if you tell them that doing quackery stuff like this when so many people would be against it, specifically, the rabid Christian in question, it would be utterly retarded to risk their reputation, the university's, and the peers and the peers university, etc. Yeah..so...trying to get away with quackery is a retarded excuse. The Christian's response? "They are all in it together, damn liberals." 😐

If any of you are wondering, I have had a very similar conversation with several different rabid Christians.

But genetic engineering can "cure" both in the same way.

That purple ribbon was a souvenir from your mother who I met awhile back.

Being a drunken moron isn't genetic to any large degree. For them, it's just their own fault.

Being a drunken moron, is a self-harmful behavior many wish they could stop. Being gay, people can take pride in that. I certainly would hope nobody takes pride in being a drunk idiot.

Not to burst your analogy bubble, but there's evidence out there for genetics playing a role in alcoholism, too.

Addiction: It's in your genes
