Seeing as how these establishments are privtely owned, seems its up to the owner to make this call. I am QUITE sure if the profit margin was high enough, you'd see nonsmoking bars EVERYWHERE! Seems the fanatic health nazi's refuse to put their $$$ where their incessantly complaining mouths are.

BTW, complete irony here. You say "Ppl should not harm other people knowingly" right? Then why are you going to bars? I assume for the alcohol which is FAR more dangerous than a little smoke you can step away from if you choose. Lay off the booze & maybe this will become a nonissue.

In moderation, alcohol doesn' t form any problem. Long-term effects of alcohol appear after repeated use over a period of many months or years.

It would be ironic if Fire was an alcoholic, which he isn' t.

i say no because if smoking is band then so should alchohol but it wont cause it's all abought the money. alchol is worse than smoking imv.

Let' s make the distinction. All this time, I haven' t been talking about a total ban, I' ve been talking about designated areas where smoking is/isn' t allowed.

I do know that once you start smoking, most start as a kid, it is hard to stop, but it can be done.

apart from Ireland, there is another Europen country that has introduced the smoking Ban.

This ban applies in Shopping centres, Pubs, Bars, Restaurants, Shops, Hotels' public areas and offices.
A traders and retailers association had voiced their anger saying that it would slow down business and eventually increase unemployment.

The govt. (which is influenced by the association) then postponed the law saying it would give a permit to ONLY bars, pubs & restaurants 6 months to install an Air Purifying system within the outlet. These outlets were to be under 200 M.2 .
However an Ameriacn doctor came along and stated that these air purifying systems were put to the test already in th US and their performance was well below standard.

The smoking ban has taken immediate effect as from 12/10/2004.
Smoking is only permitted outside enclosed venues.

anybody caught smoking in an enclosed venue open to the public will be subject fine up to $130 (82 BP.) and the outlet a maximum fine up to $180 (300 BP)

Nevertheless YOU TRY WALKING INTO A DISCOTEQUE with around 400 pax WITH BLARING MUSIC,AND HAVING MOST PEOPLE ENJOYING THEMSELVES and say NO SMOKING !

I don't refuse just noone started it yet, and I'm quite certain that in the very near future they will not have to, they will be forced 😄

I go to bars to have fun and so forth, maybe this is different for you but my friends and I don't go to bars to drink alcohol until we become a problem or a danger to other people, we KNOW when to quit.
Also the difference (which you apparently didn't take into regard) is that I choose wether I drink alcohol or not (aslong as I don't drink too much I am not hurting anyone by doing it, it is also illegal to drink too much) I do not choose wether or not I breath in smoke that is not up to me. BIG DIFFERENCE
