The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

I wonder how long it will take for the price of this game to drop...

Buy a graphics card first ๐Ÿ™‚

As I look into graphics cards I'm getting more and more headaches.

Stealing Ram from the system won't be a problem with the cards I'm looking at, but I have to determine what kind of slot I have (PCI Express, PCI, AGP, etc.) and worry about having enough power in my processor to run it (most cpus run on 300 watts...some cards need 350).

..*sigh*

I've put Oblivion away so I don't have to look at it for a while. ๐Ÿ™

You might need a new PSU, but they're not that expensive.

Thankfully, I'm running a 550watt.

And to find out PCI/AGP/PCI Express, you can either read motherboard manual, or open your case and look at the slot your video card is currently plugged into. Apparently the top one, closest to your motherboard, if brown, is AGP. But I'm not sure on this.

Console gaming is so much more convenient. droolio

And so much more expensive <3

Not when you have to buy more RAM, get more harddrive space, and buy a decent video card. And then you have to do it again the next year.

In the long run it's roughly the same. I need my cpu for other stuff too, so the additional stuff I have for gaming doesn't cost any more than any console (like the graphics card, which I'll have for about 150 soon).

Occasionally, it's a b*tch with compatibility issues and whatnot, but for the most part I think it's clearly the best gaming platform....backwards gaming compatibility for every game since probably 1990, the biggest gaming selection, better online gaming communities, potentially better graphics, etc.

Not really, depends on what you're running at the moment, if you max out your pc, you wont have to upgrade anything for a few years, I bought mine last year and the only thing I've upgraded since is the graphics card. Plus with console gaming, you have to pay for the console, then for the overpriced games, plus accessories.

Plus pcs get modsdroolio

And pirated games. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

PC's have a lot more variety, too... you can play console games on PC...

But when a computer-gaming-bum like me doesn't know shit-from-sherlock (I think I just made that up), then that upgrading business becomes a problem. Hence the "convenience" of consoles. ๐Ÿ˜›

PCs get mods... very true. droolio

The unfortunate saga continues. ^^

I figure once I get this running it'll be time for school to start. A sweet game always wins over responsibility, so I'm basically screwed.

That, and no matter how sweet this game is, this build-up is so excrutiating that if it doesn't give me an orgasm my first time playing it'll probably be a bit of an let-down.

If your system can run it on high, it's like watching a movie ๐Ÿ˜

I dunno. If I end up with a fast 256MB card and my cpu is 3GHz, 512MB RAM, etc. I probably won't be able to run it on the highest levels. At this point, I just want it to run smooth....on pretty much any graphics setting (but high would be better).

I just played this game again for the first time in months.

Let me say, I forgot what I was missing.

Question, though:

Spoiler:
Is the dinner party mission everybody's talking about the one where you have to murder the Draconians, or whatever their names are? Or am I not there yet?

I'm sure you'll get things worked out. Just remember what you're doing it for. ๐Ÿ˜›

I've run into a problem. There may be spoilers regarding the main quest here:

Spoiler:
I'm stuck at the part in the main quest where you have to find the Armor of Tiber Septim (or whatever his name is). Anyway, I've gotten through a majority of the tomb place you have to visit; in fact, I've gotten all the way down to the room where there are the four tombs. Reman Cyrodill I and III's coffins are in there, along with two others whose "writing is illigible."

Well, the tunnel that I'm assuming leads to his armor is blocked by some kind of enchantment. It's like a giant, bright, swirling whirlwind that hurts you if you try to run into it. A message came up and said I'd have to find another way around.

I went in the water outside that tomb room and found another door. I explored more for a really long time, going to every nook and cranny. It seems to me I've been all over, and I haven't found any way to get the enchantment away! Can anybody help me with this? I'd appreciate it.

Spoiler:
If it's the mission I remember, you have to kill these four Blade ghosts, and then they will go and remove the enchantment. Each one is in a different section of the central hall. And they are pretty damn hard to kill.

Okay, cool. I'll try it.

See, I've been walking around invisible, so I don't have to fight a million wraiths. Also means I probably wouldn't have ever fought them myself. ๐Ÿ˜›

Thanks. ๐Ÿ˜„
