In the house by the stables there should be a woman on the 2nd floor.
And be prepared for your animal to suck for a while. But keep it close when you level up in your sleep and it'll be helping you out in 4-5 levels or so.
And if you want to know about the animals before purchasing one, I think you can buy the 'Guide to Pets' book to tell you about their attributes.
Also, get your animal's toy so you can call it to you. Otherwise, I'd imagine finding it would be a pain when it gets lost, dies, or goes off on its own. And buy as many revival kits as you can reasonably afford. You'll use them...especially early on (unless you're smart early on and leave him somewhere when you go and fight), but once your animal becomes useful reviving is much less frustrating because he's a good battle-companion.

Teekus, of the Guild in Chorrol, I had to help him with Garana, and get the book for him. I did that a while ago, and they say he didn't give a recommendation yet. So I went back to him, and there is no option to ask for a reccomendation. Now what?

I think I might have that problem soon too. I did the same thing, but it didn't show in my list of completed quests.

I haven't looked it over myself, and you'll likely need to open it with another program and zoom in a lot to read anything, but I thought I'd put it out there.
hmm ime a bit bored of oblivion now, lvl 23 and just dont want to play any more, the monsters are boring, there only about 15-20 diffrent monsters ive seen so far, now all i see is Minataurs and skeletons and liches, so boring really, in the same old dungeons over and over again, ive finished much of the quests and those i havnt are either pointless or boring and my fighters quest is broken, which was one of the main things that made me want to play and now i dont want to do anything, that one bug ruined the entire game, took the experiance and magic away from it all, made me remember that its just a buggy game and will probably delete my profile or something ridiculous eventually

i just got a mod that enchants the arch mages robe with tonnes of awsome buffs, best of all is the +450 magicka, combine that with all my other equipment that ive enchanted and the spell that i use to increase it my magicka can become over 1000, its awsome, ive created the harry potter Avada kadavra killing curse, i can kill almost anything with a shot, or if that isnt enough then i can use the blast of death which i created for absolute over kill, ends up blasting through 2 enemies at once, and these were minataur lords, very strong beasts and dead with one shot from my spell 😆
combined with my weakness to fire spell and my fire rain spell i can annihilate 3 minataur lords with only a few hits of the fire blast, got a spell called hands of mana that shields me with a powerful shield at the same time as doing enough damage to kill most guards and huminoids with a shot, lords take 3, but its costin me only 230 each time so i can afford it when i have 1000 magic, awsome
Id definatley say being a mage is worth it 😉
