Carlos Delgado to the Florida Marlins. Nice Pickup

the mets offered him the same and hes friends with beltran but he said he felt florida was a better contender.. i think the mets could have been dangerous with him and beltran and doug menkeivitzch (no idea how to spell that) and oh yea pedro

i think the mets are going to pull a cuo and win the east this year. i really like that rotation of starting pitchers they have assembled over the last year. braves will still get the wildcard though.

Too bad Delgado playing first sucks the big one. He's an awesome hitter, but he also lets in a few runs per game. He was perfect for the American League, but I dont know if he will be as effective in the National.

i dont know that he will let in a few runs a game maybe allow a few hits that a good defensive player could of stoped

I watched plenty of Blue Jay games. Delgado cant get grounder's and throws that come to him that a good 1st base player can get. So every game he might not let in a few runs per say, but he lets those tough balls go by and also lets easy ones go by too, which is pretty small, but in baseball, its the small things that count.
So because of Delgado, the guy gets on first, then somebody else hits, he goes to second or third, and know he is in scoring position because of Delgado's bad play. Unlike most good defensive players, he does on a regular basis.
He is an awesome hitter, but is horrible at defence which is key in the National League.

Yeah but he's a considerable upgrade, compared to Jeff Conine and Hee Seop Choi. His FP in 2004 was the highest of his career. He is a career .271 hitter against lefties, and has an OBP of .820+ against lefties. Much better than Choi.

Yah definitly. He's a great player.

I think the Marlins are gonna win the NL East easlily this year.

its definitely one of the most competitive divisions for the season coming up.

Slammin Sammy is going to the O's.

Also, a underrated move was the Mets getting Mientkiewicz from the Bo Sox. While he certainty isn't the hitter Delgado is, Mientkiewicz will really help the Mets horrendous infield defense which IMO is more important than getting another big bat.

yea boston tried to improve their D then they let a great 1st basemen (defensively) go? dont get that

I guess the Red Sox just wanted their world series winning baseball back. 😛

Spring training in 12 days ✅

I'm happy that Toronto's raising thier payroll by 20 million each yaer. So, maybe they could compete for the wildcard or something.

wtf are the Tigers doing? Signing Ordonez to such a high/long contract. They could have picked up someone better.

i think the dodgers have "one" of the best starting rotations in the league, and the bullpen doesnt get much better with Gagne leading it, but the O is questionable. Although i feel they can do good, i hav ?'s about how Kent and Drew will do.

I think in 2005 Kent will play just like he did in 2004...as far as Drew, that's a tough call. He had a great year with Atlanta, but I don't think he will repeat it in LA

yea i think drew will be good and stay pretty consistant but i dont think he will have a great year like atl again

Well Barry sure got the media on his side with the steroid scandal with his amazing politeness, sincerity and his overall non ego with his press conference yesterday. 🙄

Also, did anybody else hear that Pudge came into camp 20 pounds lighter. That Atkins diet is sure doing wonders. 😉
