I hope they stick with it. It would bring new heights to the unintentional comedy scale. Think about how great it would be to watch Karl Ravech say "now for an update on the Oakland A's vs The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim."

All this talk about The Los Angeles Angels makes me think that the ghost of Autry will be haunting Angel stadium till Arte changes the name. 😛
I seriously doubt the name will stay. I kinda thinking he is creating this controversy just for publicity. After all...Arte made his money in adverstising. 😉
were talking about a baseball player, not a girl scout. Ty Cobb was a discrace, and look at how he has been honored. That guy sharpened his spikes so he could injure anyone who was going to get him out. He also used drugs and was a womanizer. Betting on baseball isnt even a fraction as bad as wut the old hit record holder did in his time. And if people say "well it was a mistake, we dont want to make that mistake again" Its only contradicting itself. OJ Simpson is in the hall of fame. Does anyone think he is anything less then a disgrace? Everyone should. He murdered 2 people and got let off cus of legal rules.

completely agree about Ty Cobb, and there are many players I don't think should be allowed in there...I don't have control over it, so when it happens, I just let it go and discuss why the next person shouldn't be allowed in lol
Pete Rose coulda have made it much easier on himself, and I think he would be in the Fame right now (or within the next few 2 years), if he would have admitted to everything in the first place...15 years ago is when he was "banned" from baseball....it could take 15 more years before he would be inducted IF he was even allowed on the ballot.
The other problem is this:
"Any player on Baseball's ineligible list shall not be an eligible candidate."
That is from the Hall of Fame rule book. Pete Rose signed a contract with the commissioner, in complete agreement, that he went against Rule 21 of MLB. So he signed a contract to become ineligible.
Bud Selig has been doing a good job with this whole Rose issue. He's not rushing anything, he's taking his time. He can't even overturn the Hall of Fame rules if he wanted to. He has to get agreement from the BBWAA.

you cant compare OJ or TY Cobb the sport doesnt care about that sort of thing what Roose did was directly related to baseball OJ's wasnt playing anymore and he got off..
I think Roose should be let in because regardless of what he did he should be honored as one of the greatest hitters ever because he is.. atleast maybe after he dies put him in or when hes on his death bed cause he earned it..
